    Let me rephrase then

DCSB is fine as long as you have a second truck with an actual bed

Have an Access Cab, should have gone with a DC :anonymous: Mainly got the access cab for the back platform for the dogs - it's perfect for them. Didn't think I'd be hauling people and don't on a regular basis, but for those times the DC would be nice

    I've had all 3:

Regular Cab-loved it but had no room
Access Cab-loved it too but needed to be able to haul grown adults at times and those seats are not made for adults
Double Cab:love my truck...can haul people comfortably if I need to (adults and kids), have covered, secure storage if its just me and a passenger, and have the use of a truck bed if my undercover isn't on the bed....not that it's a huge bed mind you but it's great for my needs. Plus, just bought another single cab so I now have another toy to play with when the spouse lets me...

I've heard the 4runner debate when it comes to buying a double cab...but I simply wanted a truck bed when I needed one. Something about hauling lumber, trash, etc in a 4runner just doesn't appeal to me.

    no kids

need a real bed, not a useless tiny box
    ---
if I had a need for 4 person capacity double cab long bed,
because quite frankly, the short bed is worse than useless
I need a truck, not a mall queen

I've done the whole 'use 4runner as a truck' for a long time...and hauled wood, crud, dirt, windows...etc. It gets old fast.

I get more use out of my long bed than I would out of a double cab. I put two kids in the back of my AC all the time, sure it's tight but we all fit comfortably. It will only get better, more room, as they get out of their infant/toddler type car seats. They are 4.5 and 2.5.

Perfect for me would be the DCLB but I had 6 days to find my truck and there weren't any available near what I wanted in options/price so I went ACLB.

For our camping trips I could not fit 4 people and all of my gear in a DCSB. It barley fits in the ACLB. Tent, cooler, dry food container, stroller, 4x sleeping bags, pillows, rubbermaid full of other random gear, fire wood, bags for clothes and toys for the kids.

I find it funny how one extra foot makes a "worse than useless" bed suddenly OK. While I agree I would prefer a 6' bed over 5' it does not make THAT much difference as some people make it look like. If a 5' bed is "abolutely useless", that person won't be happy with a 6' Tacoma bed either. I'm thinking a full size 6.5 bed that is both wider, taller and longer would be the next step.

I agree with you about the 4 runner beeing used as a truck for hauling things. Other than that, I like 4 runners a lot, especially the 3rd gen.

i bought an access cab and love my truck but i'm reminded how much i dislike the rear doors every time i am in a tight parking space and need something from the back seat

I would assume it depends on how many people you are going to be driving with you. Do you need 4 full seats? Are 2 seats enough?

After this questions are answered you have what truck you need. Not 20 replies of what other people have.

By the way access cab isn't good for a growing per teen daughter and her friends. Will be buying a DCLB very soon.

Got the access cab cause I couldn't find a double cab. Even if you don't need to haul people it's nice to have just incase you take a few friends fishing, hunting, Burger King......

    DCSB with bed extender...

Get the people carrying ability, locker, ability to park a shorter truck, and with the extender you can haul 6' long stuff when you need to... and anything longer than that...

    http://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-16-f...-Pack-480606-12/202340309?N=c2dn#.UUy-TDfB-So

The day Toyota sells a 4runner that allows me to seat 4 and has a 5' cargo area that I can put stuff that is wet, dirty, loose etc. and not damage the rest of my vehicle, I'll agree with you.

Haha. I can park just fine. I don't know how many times I've parallel parked in a spot and my DCSB has fit with inches to spare. Or u-turns that I could make without backing up.

    1. Already have another 4-door SUV.
    2. Wanted 6' bed rather than 5' for hauling kayaks around.
    3. AC looks nicer and more balanced (style wise) than DC.

As others have pointed out, if you're chauffeuring people above the age of 7 around you have to get the DC. Otherwise, enjoy the awesomeness of the AC!

For me, double cab only. I also have older kids so I need the extra door/leg room. If I had no kids, I'd probably go w/ an access door.

i carry my wife and step daughter who is 7 around just fine. we plan on having one more kid but neither me or my wife are that tall or big. so the access cab works just fine. for whatever reason, we need the more seating capacity/room, will just take the wifes car

Access cab. If I drive w/ more than two people in the truck, ladies are the perfect size to fit in the back seat (I rarely see a truck full of dudes). But 90% of the time it's just me and a friend and I like the extra bed space for hauling.

Access Cab for me - I don't need to haul people and stuff at the same time. The wife's CRV takes care of the people hauling duties.
