in the process of changing driver side c/v boots, and am unsure of where the inner boot is supposed to clamp to the axle. there is a groove there that looks like the inner boot should clamp to but the clamp will not get tight enough.

    please help!!!!

It's pretty much that groove. Just slide it out past that groove and clamp it on and it will slide back. The best option would be to use some hose clamps and reinstall the cv and then with the Taco sitting level slide the boot out just enough until the fins aren't touching and tighten the clamp down really tight.

cool thank you! after figuring out that the passenger and driver side are supposedly the same i was able to measure and get a rough length between boots.

odd that that clamp was the only one that wouldn't tighten up. i will be replacing all the new factory ones with worm drives as soon as i can find some that are the correct width.

i guess the right thing would have been measuring the overall relaxed length, before i took it appart
