sorry. You are correct. I have done it that way as well as another poster.
It's difficult enough using your back and moving 2x4's or whatever. Somehow I find it difficult for someone with a 30 in inseem, laying on there back, lifting it with there feet while simultaniously moving 2x4's in with one foot.
Forgive my spelling, the molsons are kicking in.

I had to help my dad take off the topper on his 1st gen, and put it back on. Damn that thing was heavy! And the window hinge on it makes it very unbalanced as far as weight goes. We got on either side and lifted it just enough to break from the weather seal on the bed rails and walked it past the truck bed onto some 2x4's across 2 sawhorses. But putting it back on is worse I'd say.

I sink 4 4x4's in the backyard spaced wide enough apart to back between. have a runner down each side and use 2 2x4's to set across from side to side. lift with your back at each end place 2x4 then drive out. I have done this with the old factory ford 8 foot bed topper with real auto glass by myself.

I just want to see the hour long video of the OP removing his topper with his fet. That is all.

How did you get it onto the trailer from the ladders?

Almost did use duct tape to ensure the boards wouldn't slip off the ladders. I did use a ratchet strap to hold a wooden box to my trash bin to make up the fourth corner where I had only 3 stepladders.
    Living dangerously I guess :crapstorm:

How much do those things weigh? Could me and my 120 lb wife pick one up and set it down without struggling too much?

I need to find a different route for taking mine off. I don't have a problem lifting it off of the bed, its just to big and awkward for me to balance.
