Shifting into 4x4 on the move

So with the new truck I have 4x4 ability. Is it possible to shift into 4x4 when I am moving? Used to be able to do it in my 02 Blazer.

Yup.. Into 4 HI, going less than 62 mph or some such speed.

I think my 12 said only under 50mph is recommended. Rather be safe and very slow anyways

 

it will beep at you if going the wrong speed


if it doesn't engage right away, --gently-- either put foot on gas and add speed and then let off gas, or take foot off gas and drop speed then add some speed. the speed change will allow it to sync. try to not engage/disengage it while in a corner

 

and never engage it on slippery surfaces and/or while the rear wheels are spinning faster than the actual movement of front wheels, unless you want to feel a very horrendous clunk/pop.

edit : wife did this once. our driveway pulls out into a inclined road. needless to say it didnt move on the ice so she decided to engage the 4hi and clunk. just because your not moving on ice doesnt mean the rear wheels are not moving.
