Which tire size?

Alright im looking at two different types of tires, one being Nitto Trail Grapplers at 285/70 and BFG's All Terrain but I don't know which tire size. For a 17 inch rim what tire dimensions should I have?

265/65/17 or 265/70/17.

Do yo have lift? Do you want to trim? Which wheels are these going to be mounted on? More info needed.

no lift yet but I might get a leveling kit or or a 3 inch lift with it. They will probably be put on 17" wheels, ultra motorsport, and whats trim?

Largest tire you can put on a stock (non lifted) 2nd gen Tacoma is 265/70/17. That is also assuming stock wheels. 9 out of 10 times you can even keep your front mud flaps since your tires still won't rub them.

Once you mount them on aftermarket wheels and if those wheels have less backspacing, (ie. 4.5bs instead of the 5.5 of stock sport wheels), be prepared to remove front mudflaps, so your tires clear or even do a minor trimming of the inner fender flare.

For 285's, usually you need a 2.5 - 3" lift and still do some trimming.
