Clutch pedal and master cylinder replaced

I have a 2011 Tacoma access cab 4x4 4.0L 6spd manual transmission and factory tow package. The clutch pedal creaked when engaged from the day I bought it. I looked for TSB's but couldn't find one for my model year. I finally got the dealer to fix the problem yesterday under warranty. They replaced the clutch pedal and the master cylinder assembly. When I drove it home today, the clutch felt weak. When I took my foot off the clutch, it stopped moving at a lower point than my old clutch did. I'm concerned that the dealer put in a clutch pedal or master cylinder assembly that was not intended to be used on a truck with my set up. Does anyone know if a truck with a tow package requires different parts than one without? If so, how can I tell if they installed the correct parts?
I'm not sure if they fixed the problem yet, as the old one creaked when it was hot outside (and consequently inside the truck). Even then, when the AC cooled the truck (really cool), the creaking was reduced.

 

Im fairly certain clutch pedal assemblies are the same fro the 6 speeds. Check the part number on the invoice and check that it matches tacoma clutch part numbers. There is a TSB for the creaky clutch pedal. I just had mine done on my 2011 6 speed a few months ago.

It felt smoother because it didn't creak anymore, but not really different. TSB # for new clutch pedal assembly is TSB 0186-12.

Thanks. My part #'s match the ones you posted. However, TSB 0186-12 lists these 3 parts that need to be replaced: the clutch release cylinder, clutch release fork support and clutch release bearing. The 3 parts replaced on my truck were not these parts. (After closer inspection of my invoice, I noticed that the clutch pedal sub assembly was replaced as well.)

 

Maybe the different clutch feel you describe is due to improper bleeding of the system. Take it back.

 

Weird that you had the same TSB number. What your talking about, I think, is a different issue with a creaky release bearing. There was a TSB for that also, which is different from the clutch pedal creak. That's what I had replaced. You had the bearing and assemblies replaced.

 

I had this exact same experience.

Clutch was creaky. Had it lubed at 16,000km, then replaced at 32,000km. It felt like there was a dead spot at the top of it, as if there wasn't enough fluid in the system. I ended up not having it looked at after that, but I drove across the country with it, and now just rolled over 48,000km and have had zero issues with it. It is just now starting to creak again.

 

Brought my truck to dealer yesterday for the clutch pedal squeaking although mine does it when it's colder out and goes away when it warms up. But they are replacing clutch pedal assembly and clutch master cylinder when the parts arrive. hopefully will be able to get it done next friday.

my clutch squeaks cranks but only after parked in the heat for 4 plus hours. I want the dealer to do it but they require me to leave the vehicle all day because they couldn'reproduce the issue but they only had it in the heat for 2& half hours how did you guys go about getting the dealer to do this?

 

Mine was squeaking when I brought the truck in.

 

When the technician installs a new clutch pedal , chances are he is adjusting the free play at the top of pedal by the book . This usually means there is going to be about half an inch of free play at the top of pedal . As the clutch wears down the free play goes away .. Our trucks do not have a self adjusting clutch so we need that free play at the top of the pedal to keep your throw out bearing from turning all the time .

Had to go back to dealer today for squeaky clutch pedal. They need to replace everything again. 1st time was at 8k miles now I'm at 27k

 

yup same experience. Had the TSB done, clutch felt like a soft turd. Drive it for a couple of days, mine got better and feels like stock again after driving around a bit. But now it squeaks again, I think Toyota just made that a feature free of charge in our trucks

 

I have to wait til they order the parts so its not even done yet. I'm going to make sure that if it happens again it better be free cause I'm certainty not paying for something they couldn't fix for free. Once it's out of warrenty

 

So talked to dealer toyota will not replace the parts again so they want me to bring the truck in so they can grease some things. See if this works.
