Has anyone had a problem with the AC fan control?

I was running the heat the other morning and had the knob turned to high and it would blow air out at high speed then randomly it would blow like it was on low even though I had not touched the dial. After a few minutes and turning it off then back to high it worked like normal.

    Any ideas??

Possibly dust in a connection somewhere? I doubt your blower motor is failing.

Mine used to not even turn on, no matter what setting the dial was on. It would happen maybe twice a month. I'd just pound on it until it worked...

Eventually I took the control face off and cleaned all the connections. I couldn't believe the amount of dust in there. I haven't had the problem since.

The connections between the wiring harness and the control face.

Ok I'll tear into it and see what I can find. I also read the there could be a bad connection of the resistor under your glovebox FYI

    Thanks man

^^^ Before you start tearing into the dash, try this as every single one of these I have diagnosed with the symptoms you described, including mine, has been this problem described in the link below. Of course your mileage may vary. BTW, Toyota has a TSB for this connector with new pigtails. Since it is actually a Delphi part, they too have the same upgraded part and I got mine on ebay. For another $25 or so you can also upgrade the fan resistor while you are there as it gets hot enough to peel your skin if you touch it. There is a TSB for it as well and I would strongly recommend you do both the connector and resistor together. Good luck.
