    - 24F (ECT -40F, but that doesn't affect inanimate objects). Optima Red Top FTW. Truck cold soaks 9+ hours overnight at work; subzero Fahrenheit 50% of the time. Truck tells me it prefers the garage. ;)

    EDIT: -31C / -40C ECT

I work in northern Alberta, the coldest Iv run my truck in was -47 Celsius. That's with block ,pan heater and grill cover. Also had some fuel additive. Takes a while to warm up but it handled it no problem.

    - 55c this morning , not including the wind chill . I have the long range command start > can start from 2 miles away from the truck or set it to start and run till warm every 4 hours .
The heated pleather seats dont get warm until you actually drive the truck .
Your winter gloves stick to the steering wheel .There is no way you could drive the truck with bare hands .
I would literally kill for a heated steering wheel in this truck .
Nothing worse than cold pleather on the @ss for the first 15 minutes of driving hehehe

I am curious. Is this a true cold start setting outside over night with no plug in? Also what oil are you using. I ask because this is -67 degree Fahrenheit. One last thing. You mentioned wind chill, but wind chill does not effect starting ability. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Coldest with my '99 was around -25 degrees (f). She cranked REALLY slow, and rattled like a bastard for close to 5 minutes.
Coldest so far with the '10 has been around 20, but I haven't had it through a winter yet.

I see guys running a small cube space heater in thier trucks when they are parked plugged in. I'd be afraid of burning my truck up, but it might solve those issues

When I am at work , the trucks block heater is plugged in for 14 hours .
When I am at home , the truck gets about 4 hours of timed block heater power before I would even consider trying to start it .
Running full synthetic 5/30 engine oil

"Wind chill (popularly wind chill factor) is the perceived decrease in air temperature felt by the body on exposed skin due to the flow of cold air. For inanimate objects, the effect of wind chill is to reduce any warmer objects to the ambient temperature more quickly. It cannot, however, reduce the temperature of these objects below the ambient temperature, no matter how great the wind velocity."

Short version; your truck doesn't care what the windchill is.

Actually it does not. Wind chill has nothing to do with the actual temperature. Wind chill is a factor used to describe the rate that cooling takes place at a particular temperature on a particular object. It has no ability to lower temperature below ambient. If wind is blowing through the grill it has no effect on what already is. The wind could be 0 or 30 miles per hour and the temperature will be the same.
Here is an example. Water freezes at 32f degree. If you set a glass of water outside and the temperature is 33 with a 20 MPH wind making the wind chill 21 degree the water will not freeze. That is because the actual temperature is 33, not 21. Wind chill does not effect if a vehicle will start or not because it does not change the actual temperature. All wind chill does is speed up the cooling process down to the actual temperature. It does not lower it below the actual temperature. Consequently wind chill does not effect if a vehicle will or will not start. Actual temperature is the only factor in this equation.
