Tacoma or Tacoma SR5?

While shopping for car insurance, a representative said all Tacoma models are SR5's. I was under the impression that the SR5 (Sport Rally 5-Speed) model was officially discontinued in 1983-84 (replaced by the HiLux, which was replaced by the Tacoma in 1995), with only the SR5 option package still remaining. I do know current Tacoma models look nothing like those earlier SR5's.

So, which is it? Are we driving a Tacoma, a Tacoma SR5, or an SR5 Tacoma?

SR5 is now a trim package.

All TRD packages also have the SR5 package.

Not all tacoma's are SR5 but most tacomas with color matched fender flairs and front bumper have the SR5 package.

 

Since this insurance representative isn't the only one saying this, it's been on my mind. A website listed an item for a 2008-2012 SR5 double-cab. When I called, they said that item was for my truck. I've even seen one or two people here suggesting all Tacomas are SR5's.
