Cool pics and nice setups. In my 14 year Tacoma owner experience. I lightly rock the truck in gear back and fourth and the tcase disengages. I also agree with the said remarks about usage. Using paradigm "A truck in motion stays in motion". Even mall crawlers should cycle all mechanical capabilities to ensure longevity. Long live the Taco

this one is the one. i had problems when i first got my truck as my last was a manual case. with these, its best to stop, push clutch to the floor, and then a bit more, then turn the knob. i also have the best luck by never jumping past 4hi. so rolling 2hi-4hi switch with solid light, stop, clutch in (even in neutral), 4hi-4lo switch, and slowly roll forward till you get engagement.

then stop, clutch in, 4lo-4hi switch, ease truck back into motion, and then 4hi-2hi switch while rolling.

even if im stuck in 2hi, and want 4lo, ill cycle it into 4hi, spin tires, stop tires, and grab 4lo.

go to the dealer and say the truck doesn't start regularily and you suspect a mal-adjusted clutch switch. they may adjust it under warranty

Well I guess there's a way to test the user error theory. I can just go see if it happens again, and be careful to use the proper procedures.

As for 4lo in snow, does that go for mud too? Is the ONLY time I use 4Lo for crawling like, ever? No deep snow, no mud, ever? Tks

Just to follow up, you guys were right. User error. The procedure for entering into 4Lo is:

1) Engage 4 Hi.
2) Put truck in Neutral
3) Depress Clutch all the way to the floor and turn dial to 4Lo

When I used this method it just went in and out with ease.

Thanks for the help guys.
