I did exactly what you are contemplating. Went from on 02 duramax to a 2011 Tacoma 4x4. Had the Duramax for towing a travel trailer that we sold when the kids headed for college.

The Tacoma has plenty of room inside for 4 people, gets decent mileage, and can go pretty much anywhere you want it to go. Good on long road trips and WAY easier to drive around town, park, clean, etc. Every once in a while i miss the full size bed but it its not a big deal.

Fewer creature comforts in the Tacoma - no electric seats, heated mirrors, leather, stuff like that but less to go wrong as well. I was already a fan of tacomas (son has a 99 pre-runner, daughter has an 01 4 Runner) so I was ready to be happy with it and it hasn't disappointed me yet.

    I would do it again.

Get the Tacoma, you won't regret it. You'll look back on this thread and say "damn!!!!! this truck is the shit, why did I even ask"!!!!

Oh yeah...and you will look in the bed of the truck and see all the slain vagina! Did anyone mention the slain vagina that happens?

Having gone from a full sized truck to the Tacoma, make sure you are happy with the seats. That are smaller and the side bolster on theTRD OR seat base painfully presses on my legs. I miss the full sized seats in a full sized truck. Other than that, it's a great little truck.

i doubt it, at the rpms you would be to worry about slippage, i don't think boost would be high enough to make a huge difference.

if you want it to crawl, i would shy away from it just because its one more thing to go wrong out there. but then again, any added power at the idle-1500rpm range would make wheeling the 6-speed that much easier
