So I got a new 2012 Taco and tried programming the gate and garage door opener (on two separate buttons of course). The gate works but the garage door won't react. The original remotes work fine. Suggestions?

There should be a button on the garage door motor, hold it until it flashes and then hold the home link button.

What is the model and year of ur garage door opener?
It could be an incompatibility of the homelink software to ur opener. Esp if its security + 2.0. I had this problem w my 2012 BMW. I had to get a "homelink repeater". Google that for more info.

2012 has that feature but my 2013 Sport doesn't? Did Toyota go backwards?

Did you hold the opener button down close to the homelink and then while still holding down the opener also hold in the homelink button until in recognizes the rolling code?

At first I thought you were stating the obvious, but then I realized you actually had the winning solution. Thanks bro!

I had been holding the garage door opener remote up to the mirror. The trick was to ignore the remote and instead go into the garage and set it off of the actual opener (motor).

Seems obvious in retrospect I suppose, but all the manual said was to hold another remote for the same device up to the mirror and program it that way, which worked for the gate opener but as it turns out is not always the correct procedure.

Thanks for all the suggestions fellas!
