Hey everyone, for those who have owned or driven both the 05 and 06, how do the seats compare to the 07 and later? I read that they have "upgraded seats", but is there a big difference at all?

thanks for the help - just trying to decide between looking in the 05/06 range or strictly 07 and later.

I've never heard about a difference between years, just a difference between certain packages. The sport seats seem to be liked better than the sr5 seats, you can tell the difference between them by looking at the passenger side. The sr5's will fold flat, sport seats don't.

Owned an 06 and now an 11, they are exactly the same. They did change them for 2012 or 2013, I have not sat in one yet but I will let you know if I get the chance.

Ok, cool. Having never owned one, its hard to tell if there are slight differences. Any advice when it comes to deciding between the 2005 - 2009 models, or are they all pretty much the same (minus the motor mount issues on the 05/06)?

There is a difference in SR5 and TRD seats though, I think that's what you are referring to. There are also plenty of guys with 05/06 without motor mount issues (only heard of motor mount issues while off roading.. )

Well I've owned both, and they were exactly the same. Maybe some internal changes to the padding or something, but couldn't tell a difference (I'm 6' 1" 200 lbs) aesthetically they are identical

2009 and up get more electronics standard, also 09 and up has rear back-up camera as standard.

The seats did change in 08-09 with the addition of "active headrests"...some complain that the new style are more obtrusive to those in the seat. Side airbags also became standard around the same time.

Also, if you are looking for an access cab...they butchered all utility from the rear seat area in 08/09 too...

I noticed the change on AC, but I'm going with a DC now due to planning on having kids in the next year or two. Plus, the DCs just look better IMO.

I found a '08 with 99k miles nearby that I'm going to check out this weekend. there's also a '05 with 94k miles for $14,000 that's tempting, but not the color I want. Heck, I could probably buy it for $14k and sell it for $18k. Its a nice truck.
