Money is in the bank, I have been waiting a couple of years, if they do not make some major changes, it may be 2015. I hope not, I really want to get rid of my 1972 Chevrolet C20, and my 2011 Camry, and get down to one vehicle.

Thought about it, but thankfully pulled the trigger about a month ago. The only gripe I can think of is fuel economy. But improvement on that is still a few years away. I can deal with 18-19 mpg as long as I have the functionality of a truck and performance which my new Tacoma definitely delivers.

Everytime I see the rumor for the actual next gen Tacoma, people tend to usually say 2015-2016. Either way, rule of thumb, and what my dad has told me, and what I have learned from others, is don't buy the first year of a new vehicle model. They tend to have some issues that need to get worked out, just like the 2005 Tacomas had some issues. Going to be interesting when the day comes for Toyota to reveal the next gen Tacoma look.

I doubt its any major changes for 2014. If there was I think we'd know about it by now.
Look at the 2014 Jeep grand Cherokee. They are running commercials for it already!
oh and that new jeep is...

Waiting for two years for the gen 3.Taco. Hopeing for 2014, but the vibes are not going my way. So, if this drama is going to be drawn out to 2015, I will buy the new BMW 650gt scooter to get by till then. Living in Mexico for the last few years, scooter will be fine. My 1995 4x4 Montero going on 200,000 miles, mine since new, still strong, and will never sell it. Cant wait to get back to the Keys. Sorry for the life story, just bored

It will be a while before I buy another truck. I have a 2007 Tacoma TRD off road package 4x4 access cab with only 36k on it. My wife has a 2010 Corolla S. Our one daughter will get her license in 4 1/2 years so she will most likely get the Corolla passed down to her and I will get my wife a new car then. Then when our youngest turns 16 in 6 years, I will pass down my Tacoma to him and look at upgrading then. By then my Tacoma will have maybe at the most 75k on it so it will still have plenty of reliable miles left for him. At that time, depending what is out and I like, I will decide then what I want to buy.

I don't even think the "next gen" will be produced for at least a couple years. Granted the 2012 wasn't much of change, Toyota is probably just tying us over until whole model is made.

Think the new CAFE standards go into effect in 2015 and everything has to make 30mpg or better so that is likely when the new Tacoma will come out. Idk how on earth they are going to make big trucks and SUVs see those numbers, but it will be interesting to see what they come up with.

The CAFE is average over the makers vehicles. Each vehicle won't have to get that much. Some will get 40, others will get 18(Tundra)

C20, it's the 3/4 ton long bed camper special model. It needs a few thousand pounds riding on her to make her ride nice. Otherwise it beats you up pretty good. It's got very minor rust, 396 Big block. Nice truck. I thought about tearing it down and doing a build on it, but my hearts just not in it. I want something new I can throw my bikes in and be riding in a couple of hours. Not too worried about MPG. My job is about 5 miles from home. At my age (pushing 50), comfort and luxury are high on the priority list.

I know what you mean by a old 3/4 ton suspension, I've got a 67 F250 plow truck and it beats the hell out of me and I'm only 20! Sounds like a cool old truck though, the motor in that truck is probably worth more than the entire truck. 396's are getting hard to find.

My old 03 Dodge Diesel at a weight of 7500-8000 lbs was getting 20-22 MPG, even got 24 on a cross country trip.....
Hard to think how the Taco gets 16-17 only.... When I tow my ATV trailer hunting last year I got the big old 11-12 MPG.

I would always get 15-18 towing a 10k trailer on my old truck.
This one is costing me more to drive day to day...

I'm waiting for the next engine, don't care as much about any other changes. Better gas mileage, more power - is what I'm betting on. They were planning on putting a new engine in a few years back but didn't (not sure why). It's looking like there may be a new on in 2014, but only time will tell for sure.

eventually - little doubt to that (even from Toyota themselves) - a lot of diesels are coming to the us over the next year or so (just read an article about this). not planned to the taco yet however. i'd own the first one if they did launch a diesel!

IMO Toyota needs to drop the size back to something smaller with a decent small turbo motor option. 2.0 turbo or supercharged, get 25ish in town if you stay out of the turbo 30mpg+ highway. No flippen CVT.
    I'd buy one. :)
