I have been reading on this forums & trying to do as much research as possible before I go to the dealer. Planning to get a 2013 DCLB TRD Sport. Just a curious question: does the truck comes with automatic transmission cooler or that's an add-on option?

    Thanks

The transmission cooler only comes with the tow package and automatic transmission. Tow package equipped models with a manual don't have a cooler.

OP, I bought my DCLB TRD Sport 4x4 last month. I enjoy driving it, and if I had it to do all over again, I'd buy the exact same truck. Anyway, your question's already been answered, but here's the tow package description from the ebrochure:

Class-IV towing receiver hitch, transmission and supplemental oil

coolers (transmission cooler not available on manual transmission

    models), 130-amp alternator, heavy-duty battery, 7-pin connector

with converter and Trailer-Sway Control (TSC)26 (V6 only)

also, if it was a dealer installed tow package and not a factory installed one, it will not have the coolers.

    No, he have an automatic.

All the trucks I have seen on local Toyota dealerships website comes are equipped with Tow Package. I'm used to see the AT cooler in front of the grille normally on 4Runners, Sequoia, & Tundra. So not too sure where AT coolers are located on Tacoma. Shouldn't be different from Tundras, right?

right, but that doesnt tell you where the package was installed...

the AT cooler is in front of radiator, somewhat behind the bumper, IIRC. you should see 2 small intercoolers. one for the AT and one for the oil, if they were factory installed. i would ask the dealer specifically...or post the links here to the specific ads.

I figure the cooler should be somewhere in the front.

Here's a link..."ALL" of their Tacoma trucks have "V6 Tow Package"
    http://nextgen.toyotaweb.org/invent...x?dealer_code=10124&model_code=7190&id=036335

What if I was to "build" my own Tacoma? Would that be installed at the factory & NOT dealer?

the tow package is listed on his link. $650 option.

it should have everything listed if it's the factory package like it shows. see if you can actually find a knowledgeable salesman/tech to point it out. should be in front of the radiator down low.

Alright, thanks. I know I'm not tripping that the cooler should be somewhere in the front & should be visible when you open the hood.

i'm debating between the TRD sport package and adding leather, or going with the limited. the dealer said the former would still be "sport shaped" so I'm wondering if it's just expensive seat covers? i like the hood and suspension of the TRD, but i want leather.
