Called, then took my truck in this morning so Toyota can confirm my VIN, and "check my truck". Brakes have been squealing real bad e.g - going through a drivethru just creepin along, moving slowly as in a traffic jam--with just slight pedal pressure. Jeff with Earnhardt Toyota in Mesa, AZ listened to my tale of woe, told me he would call me, and directed me to the Shuttle signup sheet. Jeff called me a few hours later to say that he had to order parts to complete the TSB and would schedule me for rear brake replacement next week. Painless thus far (for a retired guy whose social calendar is based on when the fish are biting).

At the dealership right now getting my rear shoes and drums replaced under the TSB. They are installing all brand new parts. Funny I had to tell them about the TSB and give them the TSB number.

Interesting. I just did this repair myself for damage after the shoes froze to the drum in the winter.

    tsb number: T-SB-0236-12

I think it covers 11-12 only. Someone said it can only be done if you are under the warranty. I'd call up your dealership and say, you were traveling and experienced this loud squeal. You took it to a local toyota dealer in BFE and he told you about the TSB. They didnt have parts in stock, so you told them you would do it when you got home. They gave you the TSB number so you can tell your local dealer about it and order parts ahead of time.

TSB can and should be done at any time, IF the repair is needed.
It is only free if you are under warranty.

A TSB is not a recall and is not treated like a recall. A TSB is simply a bulletin to the dealer service departments informing them that "If customer complains about 'this', then we believe that 'here' is the proper repair"
A TSB is not done automatically when a vehicle is brought in for service unless the customer complains.

Not really, but money is money. Especially with it slowing down since the week before tax day. But i like having all the locals coming to me for their work (warranty or not), i call it job security.

I understand a TSB isnt a recall, but should the dealership charge me to have them done? I got my 2010 TRD, SR5, Prerunner about a month ago 45Kmiles and I get PCSed in the military for Guam in about two weeks. I need to get as much as I can done now, but I wont be able to if it costs a bunch.

In warranty, the TSB is free.
Under extended warranty, the TSB is subject to any deductible (or free).
Out of warranty, TSB is billed at normal rates.

Do you NEED the TSB or not? The TSB is not a recall because it doesn't rise to the level of a recall. See my post above.

I noticed my truck has this problem. I'll have to tell them about it when I take it for service Wednesday. Is this only the rear?

Yes, although there were some that got new front shocks as well. But off the top of my head that was only the non TRD versions. But I would have to double check that to be certain.

EDIT: Nevermind! I mixed up TSBs somehow. Don't mind me.

Had the rear brake TSB done to my '12 Sport about 8 months or so ago. They have started to squeal again, I'm at 34K miles, no extended warranty. I need to take it back in before 36,000 mile mark is hit to get it redone for free? If it squeals again after warranty is up, no more free TSB even though the history shows the problem is there?

So are they just putting new shoes on or is there something different to fix the squeak? Mine has done this for quite some time, didn't know there was a tsb out for it though.

What's the fix? Just new shoes or have the new ones been redesigned to prevent squeal. My rear brakes have squealed since day one, now 40k miles later I would like to repair, but only if the new design will prevent the squeal.
