2005 v6 tacoma, 150,000+miles. Plagued for months with intermittent CEL light that dealerships can't trace or cure. Rough idle when hot and not moving, erratic almost stalling takeoff from stop, erratic idle rpm. Will clearup and run ok and then return days or weeks later. Sensors replaced on passenger side. One dealer replaced MAF sensor gasket and the CEL reappeared 30 miles down the road. Last dealership checked air intake system, ignition and fuel. Found 35psi where spec is about 41. LT Fuel trim numbers are averaging around 35-37. Anbody tried the smoke method to locate vacuum leak? $980 quote to replace fuel pump. miles per gallon is down 1.5 --2, last 17.2. Did you check ignition coil? Do they meet resistance specs? If problem resolved? what was the solution?
    thanks - john

The dealership in Brownwood, Tx. checked ignition and am assuming this included the coil. Issue is not resolved and it is starting to heat up in Central Texas so issue (rough idle when hot) will only get worse. Still waiting for Tacoma guru to solve what two dealerships have not solved. A case of cervasa or bottle of Black Jack Daniels to the techie that can solve this for an over the hill oilfield hippie. Thanks.

Sometimes a 174 for the other bank but pretty rare occurence. Long term fuel trim numbers are high thirties. Issue seems to be worse when temps are in nineties.

What's the short fuel Trim at idle and does it increase or decrease when you raise the rpms. Do you have the freeze frame data.

The fuel pump was the problem. Fixed by Ford garage. Also replaced carrier bearing and lower ball joints. 161,000 of mostly dirt roads.
