I checked out some of the other threads but couldn't find a definitive answer.

I have a 13 taco with the chrome grille and I'm not a huge fan. Do any of you know if the 05-11 OEM grilles will fit?

My assumption is that they will but you all know just trying to avoid undue hassle.

I don't think the grills are remotely close between the 12-13 body style and the 05-11 body style. The headlights are completely different which makes the side of the grill and shape of the 12-13 grill different. You could always do what I did. I was like you and didn't like the chrome "surround" on my grill so I removed mine, sanded it down, primed it, and then sprayed Rhino Liner (still have about 10 gals left over when I used to spray it). Or if you like you can just spray with a flat black paint. Just an idea.

Nope will not fit, I have a chrome grill as well and I am thinking about trying to dip it. I would love to find a way to treat it so it looks like black chrome

I recently blacked out the emblem using flat black paint (which I assume is very similar if not identical to the chrome on the grille) and I like it, I'm just not sure about the longevity of it just yet.

How has the rhino liner held up?

Perfect so far. I did it about 6 months ago and no chips. As with everything it is all in the preparation. The prep work takes all the time but yields the best results if done correctly. And yes you are correct about the emblem chrome being the same as the grill.

Did you use any specific kind of primer or just regular self etching?

I actually just got the primer in a rattle can at Wal-Mart auto section. I just used it for a little extra to adhere to and to sand before I sprayed the Rhino Liner. Rhino Liner will pretty much stick to anything and has a mild texture so the primer wasn't as important as if you were going to paint a gloss finish.

Thanks for the input. I called a local dealership and they have a black one for $260. I'll spray mine and run with that.

Got it painted, just waiting the 24hrs for it to cure before i put it back on.

The outer grille was relatively easy to remove from the inner grill so over spray was no issue.

Final product. Pretty happy with the color match. Now we'll just see how long it lasts.

Next up is either a lift for bumpers..
