I finally got all the parts I need to install my Pioneer AVIC X710BT deck. I'm going to try to do it this weekend. The thing is, I'm not sure where to put the little receiver for the GPS. I had this deck in another car but I had someone else install it. He put the receiver on the dash right by the windshield and fed the wire in behind the dash.

But this time I am doing it myself. I did like the placement of it when it was in the car but I am not even sure how to feed the wire in behind the dash. Is there any trick to this or will it be easy once I actually get to doing it?

Any other tips for different placement of the receiver?

Just sticky tape or tie wrap it up under the dash behind the radio as high up as you can. Today's high sensitivity GPS receivers will get a solid signal there. Mine (for a JVC head unit) has been there for 4 years w/o an issue.

I ended up doing exactly that and it works flawlessly! I actually just stuck it to the top of the deck and put it in the dash. Haven't had an issue yet. Thanks for the advice!
