Fair question. I think what's happened is you're looking at pics where the poster has already cut away a lot of inner wheelwell plastic, and the cab mount is now the thing that's sticking out the furthest.

Starting at stock, and especially with the mudflaps still on, there's a lot of plastic in the way before you get back to the cab mount.

<EDIT:> incorrect statement about UCAs removed here. See PRS's follow on post for better info. </EDIT>

Careful with this statement. If positive caster is added with the LCA cam bolts it will actually pull the tire further away from the body mount. With aftermarket UCAs you can get the camber right without adjusting the lower cam bolts all the way out (with stock UCA's they have to adjust the cam bolts all the way out to correct camber). This gives the alignment shop some more adjustment with the cam bolts. If you ask them to give you 4-5* of positive caster then you can gain a decent amount of clearance from the cab mount. that much caster will make your truck track better on the highway with minimal impact to handling.

I have 305/70/16 COOPER DISCOVERER STT Tires and I do not rub with my 3" lift. My rims are American Eagle 185's and do have a 4.5" backspace.

5100's all the way around. Front set at .85. Camburg Spindles. Camburg Uniball 1.25 UCA's. Total Chaos LCA skid plates. Custom Deaver 10 pack rear leaf spring. BFG AT KO's 285/70/17, Weathertech floor liners, Wet Okoles. Midland CB/PA, Firestick.
I rub at full lock and compression. I figure if I am in that situation - I am doing something totally fun or totally stupid....with that said, I can live with the rub.

unfortunantly, no. when it rubs, you will know where it does. it will leave marks, and all you do is cut where it is marked up, then go test it and repeat

It seems counterintuitive but less backspacing will cause worse body mount rubbing. I have 4" BS and had to cut the body mount way back, and flaten the pinch weld.

If I had 4.5" BS it would have rubbed less. The stock wheels are like 5.5" BS.

Here's mine, still need to box in the cabmount. It was quite a bit of chopping, but I do wheel and this now is rub-free at full tuck and full lock either direction.
