Hello to all! I just purchased my first Tacoma, loving it already! I got it from a used car dealer, and it only came with one key, no remotes. From what I can find out, the SR5 package include keyless entry, but having no remote to use, how can I tell if my truck has it or not? Secondly, if I do have keyless entry, where is the best place to get a replacement remote without paying the insane price the dealer wants to charge for one? I have an 07 double cab 4X4 TRD Off Road SR5 manual trans, no add ons....yet. Thank you for any help you can give.

Usually used car dealers rip out the antenna and control switch for the keyless entry. I had the remotes with my used taco but the antenna was gone and so was the switch.

Usually the antenna is above the rearview mirror on the inside and the switch is under the steering wheel kinda where you pop the hood. If there's just a hole there it's gone.

Apparently, "usually" does not apply to any Toyota product ever made with a factory keyless entry system.

The "antenna" is just a wire that is in the driver's kick panel area.
I have no clue WTF you're talking about this "switch"... the Tacoma does have a TPMS reset button next to the hood release... it has nothing to do with the keyless remote.

The Toyota keyless remote is integrated into the truck and can't simply be removed by a used car dealer.

What switch are you referring to? I disagree about used car dealers ripping out anything.

I got my extra remotes on ebay used. You have a used truck may aswell get a used remote. Then the programming just takes 5min l, there are threads about that.

You are talking about an aftermarket alarm/keyless system. Many dealers do pull them and then try to sell a different one to the new buyer.

+1! We bought a used '06 DC SR5 TRD and it didn't have any remotes. I bought two remotes off eBay for $19 each and they came with programming instructions and new batteries. Five minutes after the remotes arrived we had keyless entry! No audible beeps though--just listen to the lock mechanisms clicking.

Same here. I bought a used remote off ebay for 12.50. Followed programming instructions and it works like a champ.
