The owners manual states: You should drive in four-wheel drive for at least 10 miles (16km) each month. This will ensure that the front-drive components are lubricated.

My truck has 50 miles on it. Did you guys drive in 4WD during the break in period of your new truck?

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
i had a lift, larger tires, and was wheeling within the break in period.

it does not mater if you use it during break in or not.

oh and i don’t think i use it 10 miles a month. on after age probably 5 miles a month. maybe even less.

about 3 or 4 weeks ago i did have it in for like 25 miles maybe little more, when 4 wheeling.

In principle you should engage 4WD during the break-in period to allow the front diff's ring and pinion gears see some torque and break in.

no. i would not go out of my way to use it, just to get 10 miles a month with it.

I don't go out of my way either , I just engage it occasionally on straight sections of road

yeah. i use it mostly when going back by the barn, we have a gravel road leading down the hill, and i use it coming up just so i spin less and so it wont wash out more. i don’t need it at all, but i do it just because the tire spin/slip less. but it’s only in for like 100 feet or so.
