Anyone know who makes a black height adjustable bed rack? I saw one today on a 1st gen Taco that looked really sweet, he was on the other side of the freeway and I was not close enough to tell what brand it might have been. He did have DaKine pads on the cross bars. Looking for something to haul my longboard on in my 2012 Tacoma DBL cab and that is what I had in mind.

Haven't seen a black adjustable rack but it may have been a Thule xSporter that was painted black.

or you could do something like this. is it just a regular long board or a SUP? i dont like going over the cab with the boards because of the wind force on them.

i load my windsurf boards on this rack ive built over the bed. its nice when everything's at chest level, esp when its windy... and its also out of the wind when on the highway...

i usually keep the rack off if im not transporting my boards, it pops right off and stows in the bed or the garage in about 2 seconds.

my boards are between 7 and 12 feet long.

That looks awesome! Thats exactly what I want for my bed to have wet and dry storage. What kind of track is that/ how sturdy is it?

even though its just screwed into the plastic rails with stainless hardware its more than adequate for my boards and being on the highway. its super stable. its just straight roof rails like youd put on a bed topper and the hardware that goes with it for the load bars. I liked the aero bars better but they dont come long enough to span our beds. either of the big name rack brands will have the hardware for this. my only beef is getting ass raped on parts. they really hose you $$. your best bet is to figure out what parts will work together then hit ebay and craigs list for used stuff and save a lot of $.

the nice thing is if you get another pickup you can always move your set up over and keep it with you. i had this same rack over the bed of my Ranger.

I like the idea, except for the fact that it sounds like you're saying anyone can just come and undrill it? Or did you secure it somehow

the rack locks to the tracks like any other roof rack.
the rails are secured to the bed rails with about 12x2 stainless screws. i guess if someone had a screw driver they could walk off with it :)
youd need an allen key to remove the tracker feet to get to the fasteners under the feet as well.

I would not trust just screwing the track system to the plastic bed caps. I guess I am just a thru bolt kind of guy.

yep, through bolts are prob more bomb proof. i live a mile from the beach and windsurf gear doesnt weigh too much, but the rack has been more than secure for 1000 mile round trips to the outer banks and back with three boards in board bags loaded on it.
