do any of you have any pix of how you might have rigged up a "lean- to" with a tarp off of the back of the truck with a a cap?

i want to do some camping over the holiday weekend. i have a cap on the back of my truck, but i want to build a lean to off the back to keep the sun or rail off of me. in addition to i hate when i its rain in, and when i open the hatch on the cap, the rain water drips in on to my bedding.

i have a leer 100 if that helps.

Not exactly what you are asking, but do you have a roof rack?

If you do then its very easy, or you can be smart and buy an actual awning from frontrunner or whoever.

From the pictures of the LEER 100 it looks like it's completely flush on the outside, meaning no mounts for any type of cordage.

I suggest picking up two 6ft+ collapsible poles (kelty makes some...http://www.amazon.com/Kelty-41981003-Adjustable-Tarp-Pole/dp/B001M0NVGC, as well as other manufacturers).

Stake those out to the left rear and right rear of your truck and use them as your two high points for your lean-to.

This option is better in my opinion than tying down a tarp to your truck if/when you need to leave you can do so without having to take down your tarp.

Either will work for some extra cover, I have used the 10x10 or the 12x12 in conjunction with my capped bed, and yes, if you use tie downs to hold the unit in place, you can drive your truck away and leave the rest of the setup waiting for your return, don't want any breezes blowing it away....not very sturdy, but it will work fine is careful...
