driveshaft problems,advice anyone

Hi. i own a 2007 toyota tacoma 4ltre 4x4 and im having problems with my driveshaft,mainly my centre bearing. ive gone through the stock +2 aftermarkets ones in the last 6months. when i drive i hear a rubbing noise at slow speed and when i speed up you can hear a whistling sound. when i go under the truck when its in neutral i can rock the driveshaft around alot inside the centre bearing. got it replaced and about 3-4months later it did it again. i had a warranty got a new part and the last guy i took it to was a driveshaft specialist and he balanced the driveshaft and installed the new one. 1 week later and im getting the noise again. i have a levelling kit installed on my truck and i went from 30inch tire to a 33inch on 17inch stock rims.. could there be other problems with my yoda which is causeing the centre bearings to wear out fast? and if so can anyone lead me in a better direction.

 

One piece shaft will eliminate any vibrations. I plan on getting one built for me as well because I go through those carrier bearings like sour patch kids....

you probably would benefit greatly from a CB drop....I am not sure what you mean by leveling kit, did you lift the truck?

I also found on my center bearing that three good squirts of silicon into CB through each of the three outer access holes help tremendously, let it dry for 24 hrs, install....and I did a drop, somehow, between the two, smooth as glass, all speeds....

Does your truck vibrate? I also fought an out of phase two piece, previous owner had it slightly wrong, might want to double check the reassembly of your two piece, make sure they are in 'phase', very important for smooth operations, balancing is fine, but even a balanced, out of phase shaft will vibrate..the center yoke, if spun 180*, ends up like 5* out of phase due to spline alignment....also, your shaft should have some white paint marks, they should all be facing the same side...

I'm not getting any vibrations.. just the noise coming from the bearing
I have new Ujoints, I had my driveshaft balanced and the guy who did it says he
put it in the proper phase when he did the balance. he said to bring it in
and he was gonna grind back the seals of the bearing so it's not touching anymore.
not to sure what he means by that.

 

They are mounted in rubber for a reason they do flop around like a fish. The only stress on the bearing is supporting the weight of the drive shaft. My 97 had the same bearing when I sold it at 285K it really does not do much and should not ware out.

 

loosen center bearing support bolts, maybe misaligned. after loosening some center themselves and tighten them back up. do you have an aal or blocks in rear, if so, use shims to rotate rearend to keep proper angle.

 

I talked to a few driveline places and they said the aftermarket CB's suck and unless it's OEM toyota it fits on to tight and what they find they have to do with toyota!a and nissans is shave the inner seal down a bit until it no longer touches. I'm gonna give that a shot and if it doesn't work I'll go 1 piece shaft. also I do not have any blocks in the back. just a leveling kit on the front struts and bigger tires

 

strange you are having these problems, I have a cheapo CB ($65), injected some squirts of silicon in the open holes, let it dry for 24, installed and it is better than the $192 part from Toyota...

driveshafts can play with your mind, I tinkered with mine for awhile before I got it perfectly dialed...

It seems that driveshaft problems with these trucks run the gamit, some never have a problem, others fight it hard to fix....
