This thread pretty much covers everything about the newest TSB for driveline vibrations on the Tacoma. Verify with your dealer if in fact it is TSB-0008-14 that they are doing.

I just looked under the back of a 2013 4 WD 2.7L at the Toyota lot and it had the 2+1 leaf springs on it. So should that be changed? I'm debating on buying it if it's around in 2 weeks. I also saw the driveline vibration TSB in the other thread but the 4WD 2.7 wasn't listed on it either. I haven't test driven this one yet so don't know if that is an issue.

I'm working with the local Toyota shop to apply this TSB to my 2010 TRD Double cab. I stared doing some light hauling and hope this will stiffen up the ride.

The other issue I hope it resolves is the loud bang when I go over deep pot holes or RR tracks, that I hear from the back. These are true whether I'm hauling or not. Any thoughts?

Also, does this TSB give any lift to the truck? And finally, has anyone who has had this done, regretted it afterwards?

Thanks as always - this is the best Taco board on the web!!!!!

Mine has the 2+1 springs and rides fine. I probably have not had more than a couple of hundred pounds in the bed, though.

If you pay attention, there is a little bit of driveline vibration when you accelerate from a stop, but it is minor. The regular cab does not have a 2 piece driveshaft.

it does lift slightly. I did it on my 2009 and thought the ride was much improved but I prefer a firmer ride.

Does anyone know if this still a problem for the newest '14s and '15s? I've got a '15 TRD OR on the way.

My '13 DCSB 4x4 TRD OR has the 3-leaf pack. 28k miles, so under warranty. Dealer wouldn't do rear leaf TSB. The 2014 and '15s at the dealer had the 4-leaf pack though.

I wonder what the difference is between the 2013 3-leaf pack and those that do qualify for the TSB....

My back sits 36 1/4" from ground to fender, just under 2" higher than the front which sits 34 3/8". So, my plan to level with Eibachs & 5100s at 0" should pretty much work out great anyways.

Now if I could just decide between 265/70 or 75 BFG All-Terrains....

Just picked up my 2015 AC OR. It has the 3+overload pack. There is some slight driveline vib when accelerating very hard in a straight line from 0-10mph, nothing major. I probably wouldn't have even noticed it if I hadn't been reading this and the other threads on here.

I'm in the queue for this TSB too. Dealer says they are still waiting for Toyota to determine all the parts and repair procedures for all the models effected.

Question: Are the rear shocks also replaced as part of a repair like this? Should I consider have bing them replaced too, even if they are not part of the TSB?

    Thanks,

going to call my service manager this coming monday

Im for sure having these two problems (driveline vibration and the rear clunk noise from the rear propeller shaft). Although the second tsb looks like its for 05-12 only, mine is 2013. But I have the rear clunk noise for sure. Ive always wondered what that was. We'll see what the dealership says. But my service tech is pretty cool so we shall see. Ill keep you all updated.

Curious if any 2014 owners noticing any frowning leafs?

Mine are not quite flat anymore just barely frowning. I have never towed or hauled anything.

I know this an old thread but I feel the need to add my two cents.
First off the Tacoma is partially designed for off-road and that being said... less springs are better. If used for hauling or towing than more springs are better. Its impossible to make a truck that pleases everyone.
Second: Payload is what you put in the bed of your truck and the Tacoma is rated for 1200 lbs at least. That makes it a 1/2 ton truck. It’s ok for there to be different size half ton trucks. The only 1/4 ton I ever heard of was a small Jeep type thing we had in the army. My ‘91 pickup was rated for 1200 lbs and I would carry a ton on it without it bottoming out.
I put 600 lbs tongue load on my ‘13 regularly and it drops about 2”. It has 4 leafs.
