Problem solved, fixed itself I guess.

Ok so I recently disassembled my dash to fix the rattling and I thought everything went smoothly until trying the air conditioner today. The blower and speed work fine, as does the temperature control and vent selection. However when I hit the actual A/C button the temp of the air doesn't change. The light of the A/C button comes on but no temp change.

I took the dash apart just short of removing the massive final piece to see if there was anything I missed. I came across two connectors that I missed but I don't see anywhere to hook them up. The cables aren't that long so there not a big area to search for the receiver.

I looked over both repair manuals to see if I could tell what was going on but those grainy-ass photos don't do any good when looking for details.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I think the long yllw is for the pass airbag on/off/auto connection?

I know on my access cab I have the ability to turn the pass airbag on/auto or off.

We may share the same wire harness, but not all of us NEED each wire.....kinda like the plugs for the diff lock being on a sport model.

Can't help on the a/c issue tho, im sorry :(

If I recall correctly that plug should go to your passenger shut-off of the air bag where you use your key to turn it off or on.

For the A/C check your fuses, if fine start it, open doors and turn on A/C high fan and see if compressor is kicking in. Check you refrigerant pressure. You may need to charge it. Mine blows kinda cold so checking my levels tonight.

You have a DC so the yellow cord will plug into nothing you don't have the shutoff.

And it's mysteriously working again with having done pretty much nothing.

I did check the fuse to make sure it was good (it was) then was going to listen for the compressor kicking on but when I started it up and listen the A/C was working perfectly. Maybe the fuse wasn't seated properly? I don't know why it's working again but it is.

And I was pretty sure I never unhooked anything from the yellow cable but couldn't be sure, thanks for confirming.

Same thing happened to me a few years back. Put in a new headunit. Went cruising....no a/c.

Got to my destination went in for a few minutes. Came back out to check and it was working. No problems ever since.

Good to hear, my pressure checked out fine, just doesn't get as cold as my PreRunner did, but still blows cold. Also, when the compressor is running the front of it will engage and spin, when A/C is turned off and fan only it doesn't. Except on Defrost.

That yellow cable is definitely for the airbag on/off switch. All airbag cables in our trucks (and maybe other cars too) are bright yellow like that. So if you have airbags in your seats or side-impact airbags, those bright yellow cables are running to those places too. I think double cabs are the only ones that don't have the on/off switch. But they still run a cable to that location for some reason.

Glad to hear your AC is working though!

I have the same problem, but it hasn't fixed itself. Any ideas?
