I'm looking to add an OEM backup camera kit to my Tacoma. I'd like to stick to the OEM camera in the tailgate handle and would rather integrate the video feed into the 2013 non-JBL display rather than adding the mirror.

Has anyone used/heard of this kit? https://www.camera-source.com/produ...acoma-backup-camera-2013-display-audio-system

( I know there was a thread on adding the camera feed to the non-JBL display, going to ask there, too. )

I was originally going to buy rod's kit (http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...-factory-lcd-mirror-rear-view-camera-set.html) but it appear's he's gone MIA.

Anyone know where I can source the OEM stuff other than at the stealership? There aren't any local junkyards that have any 09+ Tacomas.

I have the backup camera kit from camera-source.com. The camera quality is great I have it hooked to my Rosen radio.

The backup camera part number is 86790-04010 GP-KD5301RC and they can be found on EBay for around $30-40, supposedly the dealer is charging $700. The wiring harness part number is 82182-04011 and you can get that from Olathe Toyota for $40 (includes shipping).

The eBay listing at the Round2Store now seems to be $50 + $5 shipping. That's the only seller that google turned up, though lots of results pointed back to the same seller.

Several places with names that claim to to be selling genuine parts, such as toyotapartszone.com and toyotaparts.com, are selling the wiring harness for just over $30 + shipping.

TRDsport253: Which kit do you have exactly? Wondering if it'd be the same one that I could connect to my 2013 non-JBL display.

Drainbung: Thanks for the part numbers. I sourced a camera last night, if I do not get the kit above I'll just need the mirror w/display.

I'd really like to use my non-JBL display, though, for a bigger picture. Per the thread above, there's been some progress but no definitive how-to yet.

I have the kit that comes with the handle, camera, and harness. Blackened302 dont you already have a factory backup camera that display on the rear view mirror? If so I wonder if you could order just the Toyota display audio interface harness and the display audio reverse trigger pin for factory harness and if it will work?

Thanks for the info. No, I don't have the backup camera at all -- I'm looking to add it to my truck.

Where did you source a camera? Im looking to do the same thing as well. I have an '06 so I want to get the tailgate and camera set up, but trying to find the cheapest way to do so, without sacrificing quality.

I'll be hooking mine up to a Kenwood head unit just ordered though

Well I'm satisfied with my kit from camera-source.com. I would say that it's the cheapest and cleanest in my opinion. So for $209 you get the pop n lock handle with a high quality camera and all the hardware and harness needed for a clean install.

I was lucky and got it off a forum member. The best deal I've found online so far is at the link in my first post. They sell different packages, check it out.

I decided to bite the bullet and order the kit (link posted in first post). I'm surprised there wasn't more interest in this, but I'll post a review once I receive & install the camera and connect it to my 2013 non-JBL display.

For those following: I received my kit on Saturday (quick delivery!) but had an issue installing it. The reverse jumper pin that comes w/the kit does not fit my factory harness. I sent CameraSource an email explaining and hope to hear from them soon.

Heard back from Chris @ CS (who is deploying tomorrow) who replied immediately (on a holiday), he is taking care of my pin/wiring issue. Now that's good customer service. The rest of this kit is in -- pop-and-lock tail gate handle, camera, wiring -- I should have this done by the end of the week. I will keep this thread updated.

I am looking to replace mine. I have the 13 TRD so It came factory but it is grainy as sh*t. Cant see an thing at night (When I need it most). I love that it is in the Rearview mirror but the quality is LACKING.

    I am looking at http://www.mo-co-so.com/28mm-Rear-View-CCD-Camera-with-Night-Vision-LED-s-p/mcs-cam-25-nv.htm .

Just wondering if I can now swap it out with the OEM one. Also wondering if I can put a tail lock on with this thing. Anyone tried any of this or am I out on a ledge. If I get the new one I will sell the OEM one cheap. May need to start a thread.

BTW check out the other crap at that store. :) Very cool stuff.

Did you see this on CameraSource?

    https://www.camera-source.com/products/toyota-oe-fit/toyota-tacoma-backup-camera-2005-2013

Looks like it meats your requirements: tail gate lock + night vision hq camera.

I'm anxious to see the quality of this camera at night -- I'm getting this because I tow a trailer every weekend for my band. Hooking up a trailer after 6 hours of setup & playing at 3am is not fun.

Thanks I did not see that one yet. The one I was looking at is $50. 200 bone might be a little more than I wanted to spend on this and I would be interested on the quality as well. I could live without it being in the tail and/or w/o a lock.

Something to think about. Anyone know what the connectors are for the OEM one? Pictures?
