well decided to take a little trip to the beach and try the Tacoma out in the sand, at first I wasn't to happy with the performance in the sand, which may have been because I was a full street psi and had several trucks stuck in front of me causing me to stop. I lowered the psi to 18psi and went everywhere with no problems. the sand was very bad that day several trucks that usually have no issues where stuck.

While airing down is always best, you could have used ATrac and walked through it without much effort......

Nice pics though, wish I lived closer to the beach.

looks good airing down for sure is your first bet to driving on sand. What's that boat in the background?

    Thanks,
    Brett

lol it was a sand dredger, funny thing is a thought I had atrac on but I didn't. at first was in 4lo open diff with full psi and after stopping in the deep sand had issues getting out, once aired down same set up no issues. later on in the day I tried atrac and I couldn't tell the difference but then again after airing down I had no issues. went to 4hi and 1 and second gear also had no issues

the sand in the pics was all 2wd type sand lol the bad sand was in the begging and middle of the park

I personally don't use low range in sand, too slow speed/ too high RPMs ... so no A-TRAC in sand... unless you are experimenting with your many traction choices, and get stuck... then A-TRAC will pull you out... or deflate your tires!
