Just cracked a leaf spring. Go stock or are there better options?

I have the 4 leaf springs as my truck is Canadian. I cracked one of the leafs off on the driver side when I hit a big dip on a highway on-ramp the other day. The ass of the truck left the ground and slammed back down. I never had the truck bounce like that before.

Anyway, am I just better off getting stock replacements or is there a better option? I currently have Ride Rite airbags in the rear (lucky they didn't rip apart) and don't intend on getting rid of them. They are awesome.

    Thanks

Looks like your u-bolt plate is upside down. If so, that probably caused the break.

Depends on how long your keeping the truck. If your holding onto it and can afford it, you might as well upgrade.

As you now know first hand, the stock leafs suck. Anything would be better IMO.

Well, I ended up getting a replacement leaf for now. I ordered new UCAs last week, and got new BFGs last month. So after thinking about it I couldn't justify another big spend.

I got the single leaf after and tried to install myself. Got to the point where the leaf pack was detached from the axle but had to bail. The leaf that cracked has 2 brackets attached to it and I'm not sure how they are attached, they are not with a regular bolt. And I wasn't sure if I'd be able to actually remove the leaf pack. I had the truck supported with a jack and a stand, but wasn't fussy on getting under there to get those 2 bolts keeping the leaf pack attached to the frame. I was impressed I got as far as I did. Then the axle was not lined up with the leaf pack so I had to use 3 ratchet straps to align the axle with the bottom of that center bolt going through the leaf pack to start getting it all back together. Add the Ride Rite to complicate matter a little. I'll just pay the $90 to get a spring place to do it for me. :(

I just broke my 4-leaf driver side leaf-springs in the same spot.

How much did the :canada:dealer charge for a replacement...?

Any idea on the amount of lift they give?

I was told by Toyota that they would need to replace the entire leaf pack, which is about $600. Add labour. To replace the crack leaf itself and add labour at a local spring shop, it will be <$200.

I believe it's around 1 1/2" over the US stock 3 leaf pack
