Hey guys I just bought a 2013 toyota tacoma off road package and I was kind of worried about the fact that it has no locking gas cap or gas lid, is there any good looking gas lids that lock or do I just go with a locking gas cap, and is there anything I have to worry about like codes or lights that will come on if I remove the lid or gas cap with a after market one.

I saw a bullet proof locking gas lid at pep boys but do you think it would work on a 2013? Or were can I find one similar

    Thank you mike

I've used a Stant since the day I bought the truck and I've never had a problem with it.

Hi folks, I'm new and just bought a 2014 Tacoma and also have the same question. I'm looking at the Stant but these gas caps don't come with any holes to thread the wire to secure to the gas cap door right?

Maybe a stupid question, but: Isn't there a roll over valve somewhere down in the filler tube that prevents sliding a hose down into the tank? If so, then a locking cap would only prevent someone from putting something into the tank.

Like absolutely impossible. I tried all different kinds of tubing and hoses, I even had high quality fish tank hose that I couldn't even get down there- that stuff is 1/4" and fairly rigid. There is obviously some sort of baffle or something that is specifically there to prevent siphoning- I tried for probably 4 hours one day. Then I decided to make the 15 minute trip to the gas station.

The Stant locking gas cap for the Tacoma (10504) has poor reviews on Amazon. 13 of 51 give it 1 star and 27 of 51 give it 3 stars or less. Most of the complaints are that the lock doesn't work well or it's easily defeated. I'll pass for now.

I believe that is the correct one but I think there is a vehicle application thing on their website so I would double check

I regret to inform you all but all someone needs to get a locking gas cap off is a pair of channel lock pliers, it's what we used in the service department at my work when we did the reconditioning of used cars and weren't provided the key to the locking gas cap

As a lot of security stuff (tailgate theft mod, etc) we put on, they are just a deterrent. Not a complete prevention.

The locking gas cap works good for deterring 95% of thieves but the 5% that really wants it will go for it.
