I decided that I would be getting rid of my Tacoma. Since it's frowned upon here to leave I decided to write this a few months before actually leaving. I have a 2013 Tacoma DC TRD Sport in Magnetic Gray that is a sweet truck I just am not impressed with the gas mileage and want more truck. I ordered a Tundra Crewmax Platinum. It is still a few months out. When it arrives I will be selling the Taco and getting into the big 5.7L monster. So far I have put 11k miles on my Taco and have received tons of compliments. Just getting my dream truck. I have enjoyed reading here and may continue to lurk. I may even list my truck here when i'm ready to sell which will probably be around September-October.

I have the same exact truck.

So you're not impressed with the gas mileage, so you're getting a Tundra??

Yup averaging between 16-17 with my Taco...Tundra will be 14-15 with a much larger gas tank and much high tow capacity. Insurance will only go up $20/mo for $20k more truck...Good deal all around

So if you needed a bigger truck with more towing capacity, I guess the Tundra would have been the truck to buy in the first place????

Nice OP. my brother has an ’11 trd off road, but it’s just the crew cab, not the crew max. love the 5.7.

really they get about the same MPG. my brother gets like 14 or so but he drives kinda fast, and also gets on the gas hard at red lights. if he changed his driving he could probably get somewhere between 16 and 18.

But with the same driving habits, the Taco will always get better mileage. (not that I care about mileage. I bought my Taco because it's the perfect truck for me)

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .
I have had several Tundras (liked them, but wanted a smaller "quality" truck) and that 5.7L is peppy and uses more gas.

I love this site, and will stay here, but "TundraSolutions.com" was a great site for Tundras.

Good luck with your new ride ... you will love that 5.7L too ... get the factory TRDS duals ... just the right "growl" ... :)

Yes I should have jumped for it last year but I had my reasons for going the route I did...It will work out pretty much just like I planned. The Taco is a great truck and I have enjoyed it..I'm not bashing it at all. It has served it's purpose.

There's almost no comparison between a 2500 Cummins and a Tundra IMO... If Toyota would pull there head out of there ass and give us a diesel pickup... we would all be better off.

Considering Dodge doesn't make trucks anymore ;)

Ram on the other hand is a very good value. I personally would rate the Tundra below the Silverado, F150 and Ram, beating out only the Titan. Most magazine reviews agree.

OP you don't make any sense. You complain about fuel economy but buy a larger truck with worse fuel economy? If it was just a "power/speed" issue, you could have bought a TRD S/C and saved yourself the financial bath of selling a new truck and buying another new one.

I can understanding wanting to upgrade if you suddenly NEED the extra tow-capcity, but if the justification is just because it has more in the advent you may one day need it... well... thats just silly.
