I notice today as I'm getting in my truck that I have black water drops on my truck, I try to wipe them off only to find out those black drops are actually the black underneath the paint of my front bumper. I apparently got some sort of clear acid of something on my bumper today while driving and it took the paint clean off!! Has anyone ever had this happen to their bumper?

Just a bunch of old crap
Actually it may not be just rock chips (but probably is).

I ran through something about a year ago that sprayed up the driver's side of my truck. I didn't realize it because my truck was already dirty, but the next time I washed it there were permanent splash marks through the paint right into the primer. Nothing I can do about it now, but I don't care because I have so much pinstriping on it that it doesn't even matter.

Lots of fluids can do this. Just goes to show how important it is to keep a paintjob clean if you don't want anything to etch it.

Yeah it's def not rock chips, you can see where the liquid ran down the bumper. It sure did piss me off I know that. Yeah you are right though I have to get around to a good wash and wax.

Brake fluid eats through paint really fast. It's a good way to screw up someone's paint job. Sounds like you are going to have to get your bumper painted.

Plastic can be a little tougher to get stuff to stick to. Do a really good prep job and use some plastic adhesion promoter before your primer. You can have most NAPA's or Carquest mix paint for you.
