Well since toyota decided to make the access can windows fixed and I like my dobermans to ride inside I made the windows removable. The adhesive is specifically designed for magnets to glass. Now you might be thinking...fucking magnets?? Come on man. Well these magnets have a 14lbs pulling force. EACH!!
Now I'm not done with the project. I still need to get some proper seal and keep an eye on the window for a bit. It takes some serious ass to pop it out. At any rate here are the pics. I will post up better ones after work.

Interesting... I like the idea but not sure about using magnets. I guess I wouldn't spread the word aorund that your truck is only kept secure by magnets but on the plus side, you'll never lock yourself out of your truck!

It's probably very difficult to pry it from the outside. (even if you're not worried about scratching the paint with whatever you're prying with) Looks like it would only be feasible from the inside.

    Cool concept though.

Well if you try to pry the window out from the outside you will most likely break it. If a crook wants to get in they will.

That's crazy. Good concept. Did you think about latches like they use on the mini van windows?

Great idea. I wish the rear windows at least popped out for ventilation.

But why not just open the rear slider for your dogs? My black lab rides in the back and she loves sticking her head out of the slider

I did think about latches, first off you can't drill tempered glass. And then I was gonna use lexan, the real issue was the latch attachments on the inside. I searched for hours and hours for the perfect latch. Then magnet popped into my head. Few more hours of researching magnets and adhesives for magnets to glass.

The sliding window works great for one dog, I have two dobermans. I put then in the bed as well but if I have dirtbikes and all tge gear back there ain't alot of room for the "kids"
And my boy Knobby ain't the brightest crayon in the box ya dig. Lol

I doubt that the 14lbs holding force on the magnets would be enough to keep the glass secure in a collision. Those kinds of accidents generate a LOT of force.

This is my buddy Knobby. He is a rescue that I found dirt biking. He was a pig hunting dog and he was dumped in the middle of the mountain. He had been beaten and was just a mess. Took a few years to mentally repair him. He hit the doggie lotto that day. Never leaves my side and will lick your ass to death. Haha

That's 14lbs per magnet. So 84lbs currently holding the window in.
I agree it might fly off in a collision. I didn't think that far ahead. I am gonna test it more. Off road and such. The beauty is if it starts slipping under harsh conditions I can add more magnets.

Why can't you install the latch to the glass with adhesive?

    Wow, that's a great idea.

My shorthair just pops his head out the back sliding hatch. It looks funny, but I have him strapped in with 550 cord.

I could, but I couldn't find a clean latch setup. What makes it difficult with a latch is the inside door panel.

Now the challenge is taking it out without dropping it.

Oh and how is the wind effect in the cab while driving without the side window.

great concept! I know my dog would love to be able to stick her head out the side window, as it is she just puts her head on my shoulder when the front window is open.

I see that, but collisions and sudden stops sometimes rate in the high G forces.
