Re-gearing??

    Depends on driving needs. If it is highway speeds, sure. If it is a lot of stop'n'go, not so much. Having the engine fight against not having enough torque doesn't do good for MPG either.

    I did my calculation in the difference of revolutions per the calculator on the website and it is as stated a 1.03 difference so 3% but that only added like 10 miles per tank when I was getting 330 v 290??

    Are you mostly a stop and go driver?

    As mentioned, you now need more "umph" to get going...while cruising at speed is now easier on the rpms. That extra little bit to overcome being stopped is magnified with a heavy foot.

    Fwiw, I run a 265/75/16 and did notice a drop in in town mileage over stock, maybe ~1mpg, not enough to care...and completely anecdotal

    3% sounds right. It is the ratio of a 32" tire to a 31" tire.

    Depending on your driving habits, you may be losing efficiency at the bottom end if you are starting and stopping often.

    3" lift? A.R.E cap 285/70/17 moto metal 955 17x9
    I wouldn't worry about spending money on changing gear ratio,
    I run 285/70/17 in the summer and stock tires in the winter and hardly notice any difference in the way it accels or drives between the two and my mpg's average 16-17 on both sets

    You have 5 lug wheels and a 4 cylinder engine = 4.10 axle gears, as does the auto transmissions on 4 cylinders.

    Agreed on both of yalls comments and makes sense I never really thought about the stop and go part because that's what I did before I put my new tires on as well.

    Drop in mpg could also be due to different tread design and psi. A different tire size usually rssults in different from stock tire pressure.
    Also from research and experisnce, only reason to re-gear is to gain power as mpg increase is insignificant.

    Yeah the tires def have a different tread design and a hum on the highway and guess ill steer clear of re-gearing unless I bump my tires size up again when I lift it more.

    Is it fair to say all 2nd Gen 4 cylinder auto or manual 2 or 4wd have 4.10 axles ?
