^I can really see the resemblance here. And x2 on the plate bumper look at the lines of that factory one. Those things are gonna be super duper huge and tough to fab. And expensive.

I like the no frills tacoma less to break. That pic is ugly ! Better mpg would be good. Diesel would be good.

Not only that, it would cover the majority of the radiator. The only way to keep the engine cool would to have HUGE vents/holes cut into any type of steel bumper.

I think the second gen Tacoma's have just the right balance of "no frills" and tech. My 2013 has a rear camera and 6" touch screen but cloth seats and basic dials. IMHO the Tacoma has by far the best stance of any truck, mid-size or full. It looks like it was made to go off road unlike most others.

My only wishes would be better fuel economy and a little more Hp.

I may be wrong, but heard its drums in the rear due to the rugged truck driver in mind. The drum brakes are better protected this way as opposed to rear disc brakes, which would be nice....for mall crawling

I wondered if that might be the case, Skootter. But, then, I noticed that the full-size GM, Ford & Dodge trucks use rear disks. ... and, presumably, GM & Ford know how to make a tough truck (not to start a flame war, mind you :) ).

Also not wanting to stir things up too much, I would rather my disc take a shot on the trail, get some rash and eat some pad instead of a drum cracking and sending chunks of shoe, spring and cast steel around everywhere. My $.02

You both forgot about the Pontiac Aztec.

General Motors has been trying to forget about it too.

I hope they keep the same as long as possible. My trucks value won't drop without a new model release haha

The Tacoma will always be insulated from a RL redesign imho because it's half brother Hilux is just too beloved elsewhere in the world to risk that kind of change.

You are an FN genius. Ford bought that bs about higher end interiors and more touch screen crap. After a few years and, what I can only imagine is, a boat load of complaints, they are going to move back to more mechanical controls. I'm glad Toyota never took the bait. Sometimes the consumer is right and sometimes they get their preferences while getting good high and watching the terminator movies. It's the companies R&D team's responsibility to determine which is which. Think those ford touch owners are gonna be happy when they go to trade and the ford dealers tell them their resale sucks because the engineers made a bad call?
