Accident. Help please.

    Before you concern yourself with other people rear-ending you, get your own affairs in order. Can't control stupid drivers behind you. In a way, a heavy-duty rear bumper is more important than a front one...

    Your vehicle will show as having had an accident if a potential buyer looks it up on Car-Proof. This will happen the minute you take the vehicle to a dealer collision shop or file an insurance claim, even for minor stuff like a cracked fender flare.

    Your vehicle won't get a salvage title unless the insurance company declares a total loss (i.e. truck is beyond economic repair). With the Tacoma's high resale value, the total loss threshold is also high. There have been cases where the insurance co. chose to spent > $10000 to replace a bent frame rather than totaling the truck.

    i'd say fuck it, and rebuild it, put some armor on there!
