OEM running boards installed on 2013 Prerunner:

I wanted some kind of side step since I couldn't wash the top of the cab w/o getting into the bed even at 6' tall. I also have had a few short passengers who have had to hop up into the cab and could have used a step. After doing a lot of looking at all of the options I decided on the OEM running boards. They bolt up quick with 6 screws per side on pre-tapped holes under the cab. They have a sporty look and a nice flush low profile that doesn't affect ground clearance. They are heavy duty steel with a plastic cover that matches the back bumper tread. I wheeled and dealed with my local dealership for $280 OTD.

Looking good! Been looking to add some to my 2009. Can you tell if they would help with door dings? I have a couple already and would like to prevent future ones.

You did well. My dealer wanted $600 to put them on my new TRD Sport. Told me I couldn't do it myself without special tools, a three hour job for his techs, he said. Really? Told him I'd give him a call if I got into trouble. Ha!

I like these better than the tube steps. They're up tight to the cab. They do the job without taking away clearance.

I'm guessing it depends on the other vehicle and how you're parked. It sticks out from the door a tad, so should help against front door inflicted dings, but on 4-door cars I think the back door could still get you since they often conform to the rear wheel well. Can't hurt.

Haha that is so messed up . I put mine on in 30 min. by myself, no special tools needed.

I was taking my time and it was done in 20 mins. I just layed down in my driveway, started a few threads on the center bolts first then threaded in the two on each end and tightened them all down. Anyone with some basic mechanical know how would consider this an easy job.

IMO this is the best looking running board for the Tacoma... and I do not like running boards in general...

Those look great! I found same ones on CL 2 weeks ago. They took them off a brand new 2013 Taco after a week because of the dogs. Bought them for $100 in mint condition. Took me 20 minutes to install. They look awesome but my only gripe is that they sit too high and don't really help in getting in and out of the truck.

Hello all, thanks for this thread! I am very interested in finding a set of boards just like these for a 2012 Access Cab Prerunner. Is there a search term, or Toyota part # reference that you guys know of? Huge thanks if anyone has an inside line on where to find these, amidst the million options out there for Tacoma running boards...! Thanks!
