why is the horsepower different?

I assume the 4.0 litre v6 is the same engine as in the fj cruiser and the 4runner.but in the 4runner it is rated at 270hp,not the 236 of the Tacoma.how come?in the fj cruiser it has 265.i'm feeling a little ripped off,or is it all bs anyway.

 

it is actually a different engine. taco owners did get ripped. the fj's hp advantage is very noticeable.

taco= variable valve timing 4.0
fj and 4runner= dual vvt 4.0

 

The FJ is direct injection. Check torque they are not much different.

 

I'm not unhappy with the performance.but I am thinking about the supercharger for it.Is there one for the fj cruiser or the 4runner as well.Or is the Tacoma's 4.0 litre more suited to mods?

The blower for the new 4.0s have not been released yet, TRD has been teasing everyone for over a year now and keep pushing the release date back.
