Bad idea. If there was a 4 lane HWY and you are in the passing lane with on coming traffic in both lanes you knock out the eyes of the outside lane. Also in most states, probably all, it is against the law to drive with your high beams on with on coming traffic and this does not meet legal requirements for dimming. Lastly I would not want to have to pay for this toy.

I do miss my rabbit ears.

This is actually a good thing. My argument is against those that think it should be standard on all new cars. Why should I be forced to pay for this? It's like traction control. I don't need that crap, I know how to drive. I also know how to control my high beams. If you want it, make it an option, not a requirement.

I am certain that the system accounts for various traffic patterns. Them Germans are pretty smart.

And look how dumbed down this country has become because of it... It's great to have all that information at your fingertips but no one remembers anything anymore.

This system has great intentions but makes it so the driver has to pay attention even less when behind the wheel.

Don't worry. Autonomous vehicles are coming and will soon be mandatory for use on public highways.

I actually like the system and I can see the benefits but like most have said... just more shit to break down.

But more to your point Pugga... I couldn't agree with you more with this statement!

Case in point.... Mercedes Benz has all kind of safety systems built into their cars E-Class, S-Class especially. I have a soft spot in my heart for Mercedes Benz and always have but when you dumb down the driver to where he / she has to pay little attention to what is going on around you then you are actually making the situation worse.

Blind spot monitors built into mirrors? - Buy a fucking small Convex mirror! Works perfect every time! Or better yet... turn your damn head and look and see if someone is next to you.

Sleep monitors in your car??? I know when I get sleepy and don't really need my car to tell me but that's just me.

Cars that brake themselves??? Pay the fuck attention to what the hell your doing while driving. I realize that we are all guilty of this (myself included).

What I really wish they would come out with is some kind of monitor in your car that would know if you've had too much to drink. I'm tired of picking up the pieces of drunk drivers.

I'm off my soapbox now. ;)

I still like the car that the lights are attached too though.

If technology disappeared today the population of earth would reduce to under 1 million in less than a year. Maybe others are content with letting electronic devices run their lives to the point they forget how to do things on their own but not me. Physical and intellectual laziness in the masses will elevate me to king. :D

So everytime I see that Mercedes commercial with the car that stops itself, all I can picture is some kid standing next to a highway and launching a soccer or basketball in front of one of those cars and watching it lock up, just for shits and grins. :anonymous:

I agree they are cool, but please don't make it standard equipment! I don't wanna pay fer dat. Imagine how nerve wracking the BHLM would be on those babies. If you mess it up, youd have to mortgage your house to replace them.

I dislike headlights that have a mind of their own. Hopefully these have some driver override where if you want brighter lights despite what the computer says, or if you are driving at night and have to turn headlights off, like say entering a military base.

lol... Yeah... every time I see that commercial I want to punch that kid when she just waves at the driver that wasn't paying attention. Maybe... (I don't know..) how about not driving so fast through a residential neighborhood?
