I just wanted to give a heads up on electric superchargers. I realize that the claims seem like they work, but if you understand the laws of physics it is impossible. You cannot use electrical power from the vehicle which uses HP to make more HP then is used. Keep in mind that for every 33 amps of draw in electrical power you lose about 1HP and to power an electric motor powerful enough, in this case a supercharger motor even if it was possible to break even, that is all you could do.
Here is a link to a video where two clowns expose the scam and if you are bent on trying and electrical supercharger, not connected to the engine power supply, they show you how and what you use.

Enjoy and don't waste your money on these just because someone tells you they work when they cannot possibly work :D Go spend the 5 to 10 grand and get a real turbo charger if you are bent on more power.

Never thought they'd work in the first place. Good info. 99% of horsepower gains are gimmicks. This is a category where you truely "get what you pay for."

I doubt that they are trying to rewrite the laws of physics. Read the article, they have a pretty good strategy.

This is not a physics problem... If it were, belt driven superchargers would not work either since the energy it takes to spin the S/C would offset the gains of the forced induction. A vehicle's engine is no where near 100% efficient, there is a lot of lost energy. At some point, you will be able to offset the energy lost from powering the electric fan to make the engine run more efficiently. This is not creating or destroying energy, it's not perpetual motion, it's not self generating energy, it's making the engine more efficient through forced induction. That being said, a lot of these stupid electric superchargers are just gimicks but if it were properly designed, they are plausable.

If they were plausible they would not need to make gimmicks. ;)

That's entirely untrue... people will make cheap gimmicks as long as people are dumb enough to buy them. Look at throttle body spacers. They are beyond useless yet they're still on the shelves at most auto parts stores. People will sell anything they can make a buck off of. In this case, as long as they can show that when they added this to a car, it showed gains (not disclosing any conditions), then they can market it as showing improvements. It IS plausable, it just hasn't been done well yet but it looks like BMW is trying to be the first.

Borg-Warner and Garrett have been working on them for some time as well.

BMW has a good idea, if I read it correctly. Used the energy of deceleration to charge a battery, then use that energy to help spin up a turbo until the exhaust can take over. (Simplified of course).

All right have you ever personally experienced a vehicle with an electric turbocharger that has produced as claimed? If so please produce the dino stats that you can verify as real. B y the way BMW is NOT producing a true stand alone electric turbocharger. Their electric unit is working in unison with other boosters as an electric cannot produce proper boost by itself when drawing off the engines own charging system.

I've never experienced space travel either, but I know that it has occurred.

The point is that for those who are thinking about adding HP to their trucks don't waste your money on all these false claims about electric superchargers no matter how educated the people selling them may sound as they DO NOT WORK. :D

The junk ones pictured in the first post don't work, but the technology, applied correctly is sound.

I assume you know of someone who has one, correct? By the way anything that does not work is junk and to date no one has ever got one to work as claimed.

I just showed you two articles from reliable sources explaining and demonstrating the technology.

No, I don't know someone personally that has one. I don't know any transvestites either. That must mean that they do not exist.
