I live in a NYC suburb, with a 20 mile commute to work all highway, and on average i get 17.4 miles a gallon.

It is worth it. I love my truck.

'09 Reg Cab 2.7L Manual - Brand new - bone stock

EPA estimate for my truck is 20/26. I just got 25.6 MPG in mixed (60/40 hwy/city) driving on my second full tank since buying the truck new (forgot to check the first). That's driving very conservatively... easy on the throttle and shifting below 3K RPM's in most cases... usually around 2.5K RPM.

Just my two cents as a loyal Taco owner. Toyota needs to get with the ball game on some of their engines. Chevrolet just started selling the new Camaro , and the bone stock model comes with a 304HP V6 that gets 25-30MPG freeway. That's impressive. Now why Toyota's V6 engines get worse fuel economy than some of the V8's out there is a mystery to me, but surely if they could build a hybrid like the Prius, they could make a more efficient V6.

That new Chevy V6 has direct injection which is more efficient. The turbocharged direct injection 2.0L I4 in the Ponitac Solstice GXP makes 260 HP/260 lb-ft TQ while getting 19/28 MPG. I have a friend (who's opinion I strongly trust) who has one & he says he routinely gets 30-31 MPG on road trips without trying hard.

But... that's a tiny aerodynamic roadster that weighs just under 3000 lbs. - not a 3250-4200-lb truck with the aerodynamics of a small barn.

Huh? I only run my fogs in bad weather and my mpg still sucks ass. After I ran Seafoam in the last tank I have no improvement in mpg. Still getting around 15.6mpg with mixed driving.

I didn't read through all the posts, but did the lose correlate with the winter blend gas? It's odd. I always drop in the winter once winter blend fuels are added in. However, this last tank, I'm on par with getting my worse mpg yet, and I'm driving the SAME conditions the same speeds as always. The only time I got worse gas mileage was driving a week or so in -16 to -4 degree temps. Our weather for most of this tank has been in the 30s-50s. Weird. Still, it's only going to work out to about 16.5-17mpg.

So I've only got about 1500km's on my truck and I got 13mpg on my last tank, which is pretty rough considering I drove it like a grampa just to see what I could get.....this will get better as I get more kms on it? This is probably a bit better than my last tank.....how many miles are you guys getting on a full tank usually?

I'm getting around 19-20 mpg or about 310 per tank in the city right about now. I expect that to improve slightly on the highway. I thought I was doing great. I was at almost 200 miles and barely half a tank, and then in the last day or so; that gas gauge dropped like a friggin' rock!

I usually get 14-15 in the city and 19 highway after my toytech leveling lift and 285-75/16 BFG tires. MPG was better before big tires and lift, around 17 city and 21 highway.

2nd fuel tank. This time with 89 octane. found that I got 15.6mpg. .2mpg more per gallon. 17 gallons at .2 more per gallon = 3.4 miles more. HAHA WTF.
The extra $1.70 got me 3.4 more miles. Totally not worth it.

Round three...running Premium
