I wouldn't really say mine is bad after reading a bunch of these threads. I've changed my driving habits a bit and now I get 17-18 most of the time. I believe before the 265/75 duratracs though it was more like 21-23.... I bought load E on mistake :banghead:

Fill it all the way up and reset everything on the Ultra Gauge. Run the tank through then fill it up again at the same level and same pump if you can. Then your Ultra Gauge will be calibrated. I'm still on the first tank with it and I filled it completely up and it seems to be doing just about what I normally get MPG wise. I definitely notice myself looking up at it to check my MPG's (which is a good thing if your trying for better mileage) so it is a good tool to have. I just wish it had the trans. temp. Oh well.

Not on the Tacoma.

You have to manually calibrate the fuel consumed and for distance. It'll take about 10 tanks to get a solid calibration... and then when we go back to winter blend, it'll be off by 1-2mpg. I'm running a correction factor of around 1.09.

I just leave mine calibrated for winter blend and enjoy the "pleasant surprise" when my Fuelly text message comes back indicating I got 24.2 instead of 23.0.

Good to know!

I've noticed mine seems to be running right around 22-22.5 right now and that is about what I normally get hand calibrated so it is running pretty close right out of the box.

My 2005 is all stock, tires too. I have averaged 6 tanks of gas seeing 20.5 MPG I was very surprised as the truck is new to me. I got tired of my IMO, under powered 2003 trd double cab and recently traded for my 2005. My 2003 was seeing 17.5 MPG and my 2005 again is 20.5 MPG Same route, same gas and same driver. nothing wrong with either truck. Only thing not stock on my 2003 was tires, it had 265/75/16.

As promised... Here is my updated Mileage for 1 full tank. Same station, same pump, same octane 93 V-Power, and exact same level of fuel.

I've been running pure gas non ethanol premium for pretty much the last 2000miles which is about how long I've had my supercharger installed and most of my driving is all in town. I've been consistently getting 19.80-19.93 I was curious to see what 10% blended Premium would do to my mileage so this last tank full I put the 10% blended Premium in it. Filled up yesterday and it went 19.80 so I'm not really sure if buying the, 30-40 cents per gallon more, premium pure gas was worth it as I seem to get the same MPG with both.

It's not just the MPG. Ethanol is just flat out not good for an engine. I'd pay $0.50 per gallon more to get gas without it, and I'm already paying $4.

New 2013 TRD Off-road access cab 6 speed manual and I got 19.6 MPG on the first tank running the air and all short trips of less then 20 miles with lots of shifting using 10% ethanol. I will be taking a trip the first week in July of about 1200 miles one way and see how it does on the HWY. Hopefully I will be able to find some pure gas and see the difference.

how is that true??

The O2 sensors will compensate for the Ethanol because the 02s find stoich regardless of fuel. The enrichment ratio will not be optimized for ethanol, but because of the cooling properties of ethanol, i doubt it will do damage.

Flex fuel cars differ by being able to scale the enrichment ratio and ADVANCE timing according to the percentage ethanol for more power.

I'll tell you right now an enrichment ratio of 12.8:1 at 50%ethanol fuel will not do damage to the engine. You just need to let it idle and let the computer adjust the fuel trims for the new fuel.

I have got away with E85 with stock programming on a car which has a very stout fuel pump and oversized injectors. Will bringing the enrichment ratio to 11:1 increase power? Sure. Bringing the timing from 24* to 28* and adding fuel added about 20hp to that naturally aspirated engine but barely made it any "safer"

Mine was never awesome to begin with. Now with my Nitto's and the URD TCAI and MAF Calibrator it's even worse. I'm getting about 12 mpg currently.

Easy now, run a full tank the gauge don't mean much, and you don't know if the tank was full when you bought it.

Love this thing. Sucks not having 4x4 and extended cab but at least it's worth some mpgs

Went down to pick up the 4 wheeler from hunting camp. 150+ miles with more than 600 pounds in the back, and I still got over 22.5 MPG. I'm happy with that.

Keep your foot out of it....I am running 295/70/17 and started paying attention to keeping my rpms under 2000 and it has resulted in much better fuel mileage. I use to get 15 now am averaging well over 17 over my last several tanks including over 18 on my last 2. Just food for thought.

Ha! Hard to after installing the calibrator. Thing picks up and goes! On my next tank I'll be paying better attention to the rpm's. Thing is, even before I installed the URD stuff I wasn't ever getting over 17 on a light foot.
