The $400 powder coating is about the price I was quoted yesterday. Way to high if you ask me! I think you can get some descent rims for 500 and probably sell the ones you have. Seems to high to change the color to me...

    .

for around $500 you can have aftermarket wheels.

I dont think you can powdercoat plastic, it would probably melt in the oven (dont quote me on that though)

For the rear bumper I htink you can buy a brand new one for around that price. If you wheel your truck then for around 550 you can get an offroad bumper.

Also check the for sale section here, you might find a good deal on wheels and a bumper there.

I had a set of 4 done for $60 per wheel so $240. And they did a great job. Matte black (30% gloss).

Look around for a better price.

I thought it was bad to subject aluminum alloy wheels to the relatively high temps of powdercoating? Something about weakening the alloy and being more prone to failures.

You can powder coat the aluminum wheels, but do not have them sand blast them! Using high pressure sand will pit the metal. Only have them bead blast or soda blast them, or they can use a DA sander.

    I just got a quote today...sandblasting shop said $15/rim and a one week turn-around.
The powder coating shop gave me a price of $175 for all 4 rims.

Sandblast is a general term, same as media blasting.

To clarify any confusion, that is a lot for powder coating your wheels. I would shop around, maybe even a little outside of town. That is a crazy price to just spray the bumper the same color it already is. I would think that should be about $200. Just paint your emblems with a rattle can or plasti dip, depending on what color you want. I have seen plastic powder coated but it is a weird process and I don't see how it would last.
