    Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
    one guy did a real kit and it looked like a bitch. the scoop sits too close to the top of the engine.....so no. u can open the scoop, but it doesnt do shit besides let in more water/debris

    Really? I mean the only time a hood scoop really becomes functional is when it leads to something like a top mounted intercooler or a intake.

    He had a CAI and he was bored one week. The made his hood scoop functional and also tried with one of the dummy vents on either side of the grill. Like I said all he had was a few ponies at high speeds. If you are putting in more hardware like that STI (don't forget, these are pick ups, not drifters) I'm not sure how you would do it.

    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.

    And even then, the scoop has to be large enough to be in the air stream. The scoop on the Tacoma rests in a low pressure area of the hood. EVEN IF it was open, and there was a intercooler, or intake under it, air would be pulled from the scoop instead of peing pushed into it.
