Nah, I didn't think it sounded snobby at all man.

Its just that, with a budget, we can help you out NOW with some smaller investments.....now we can safely say, headers/intake/maf calibrator. That should be under a grand roughly. Id also like to say that its been rumored for years here, that flowmasters cost us horsepower.

Now, if u have another grand to spend, u can try the uconn possibly, or used X1.

So yeah, u didn't sound snobby to me at all.......its just that if u want immediate help and ideas to try without busting the bank, give us a budget......then u can save after that for the blower.

The budget narrows it down a bit too....... now I see why u don't wanna invest or can't justify a dedicated track vehicle.

Just trying process of elimination here, and its hard without certain info..... so, botttom line is........

"What can I do performancewise while spending less than (insert money amount), id like to achieve (xxx) horsepower eventually, what would help me achieve that goal?"

Is that kinda what we are trying to figure out?
trust me, I didn't intend on getting a blower that soon....but I opened up the exhaust toooo much and the trucks low end grunt went bye bye. I assume it may have had a good amount of TQ around 4500rpm (or somewhere, I have no clue or data). That's not where I wanted my trucks peak to be tho.
I hated driving it like that, because it was like driving a honda....no offense to honda, they make some serious hp with 2.2 liters even! Its just not the driveability I want out of a truck. I didn't want to "work" for my tq like that and make the truck scream to get up hills/pass/whatever.

I didn't realize you lost TQ when you oped up the exhaust like that. Thanks for the info Justus. The last thing I want is to sound like a Honda. Again people, no offense to Honda! Is there anything I can do to help get that TQ back? I'd still like the intake and headers for sound purposes and for showing, (well installed mods win trophys :)) but I really don't want to gain one (HP) while losing the other (TQ).

didnt just have the honda sound.....I had no TQ down low (like a honda).

be careful what combos u do go with again..... NO cats and the URD 3" exhaust gets VERY raspy.

MAYBE stick with short tube headers (retains cats).........then the APR or doug thorley pipe bomb y pipe (IIRC those are tuned and dont sound as raspy).

I may not have LOST TQ, but it wasnt down low like a truck should be.

also keep in mind, some headers have thin walls and sound a little tinny (doug thorley long tubes for sure).

the best sounding intake I have ever had in the URD intake....do ur homework tho, it leaves the filter element right behind the grill and isnt good for deep water crossings, u will need the splash shield if ur a manual and run a mesh grille, and u will have to extend maf sensor wires (not too bad at all honestly).

thankfully the low end TQ came back and then some, plus a couple horsies, and I lost most of the rasp........It just took a good $4500 or so and the TRD supercharger.

Don't listen to those people that say these bolt on mods don't do anything. With my minimalistic mods (afe intake, apr x1 "chip", long tube headers, urd y pipe, and nst intake manifold spacer) I run low 14's with an open diff. I'm outta the 1/4 game as its too boring. I'm into racing around race tracks with Z's, gtrs, mustangs, corvettes, porsches, etc.

Don't let the off road package fool you. The only off road my baby touches is my driveway lol so needless to say... No deepwater crossings ;). And I'll make sure I get thicker piped headers "tinny" is the last word I want people using to discribe my trucks sound. And low 14s is right where I wanna be before turbo/supercharger. Going for the street speed but still gonna have A/T tires to maintain a rugged look. She's mainly for show and I want something unique. Most trucks at shows are either slammed and bagged or jacked up. What kind of suspension are you running with around the track? Wheel and tire setup?? Possibly a video link. Nothing cooler to me than a truck racing around a track.

its only tinny if u have adhd and notice every sound like me.

I thought it was an exhaust leak tick at first, upon closer inspection tho, its the typical header sound. Ive heard plenty of old V8's with open headers and some have that tinny sound. Ours sounds NOTHING like a V8, but its a subdued tinny sound still.

I havent had anyone else hear it on my truck, but Gadget did agree the sound Im hearing is due to the headers. IIRC he said the stock manifolds are thicker wall, or double wall...I cant remember which one.

Robert is a badass.........throw the OP a vid of u passing that porsche!

A common "rule of thumb" in the car performance community is that you, the driver, will not notice any real increases in power/acceleration unless you gain 10% horsepower.... Anything short of that is just throwing your money away... If you really want to make your truck move, would recommend a supercharger.

If money isn't an issue, go with the blower. Best mod I've done by far.

I too have the Flowmaster American Thunder and also install a AFE Pro Dry intake. Can't say I really noticed any real increase in HP but slight increase in MPG. Was avg. 19.5 MPG now I avg. 22-23 MPG
