    ive noticed a little square thingy ma bob next to my gear shifter, its smaller than an inch long and it looks like it might open up but i ahvent tried messing with it. does anyone know what im talking about or know what it might be?:confused:

    yeah i know what you're talking about. i actually pried mine open to see what it was.... i have no idea what it is. you know what they say though.... curiosity broke the truck.

    It is in case your trans wont go into gear. You put a slotted screw driver into it and shift the trans.

    Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
    yeah...its a trans lock override type a do-hickey...its in the manual somewhere b/c i got curious and looked it up

    Well if you ever have your truck in park and the keys out of the ignition. (strongly suggest having the parking brake engaged.....STRONGLY) you can open that little box thingy, with a flat head screw driver. then push the button down and move your shifter. comes in handy if you ever really want to detail your truck and take the center console apart, matter of fact just did that last weekend.
