Thank you for doing it right. I argue with my fa-in-law who is a GM at a car dealership. He swears it's 2x4. No sir, a 2x4 is a big stick in which I will smack you with! :D

    Yeah...f that.

    16 foot long 2x6: $12
Cut into four 4' sections: free
1 Gal Non slip coating: $8

If the non slip coating wears off from spinning tires, open the container and slop some more on...

    $20 vs $300

Don't all 2009+ tacoma's come with TRAC/AutoLSD? If so, did you try pushing the button to turn on AutoLSD?

if its a manual, u can start in 2nd instead of 1st and ull spin less. always remember in every situation but stopping that momentum is ur friend, hit it with a little speed. you could always weld ur diff up and that would fix a lot of ur traction issue (double it anyway) or get an ARB locker prolly a better idea.

Maybe you could have used a 2x4 to get you out. But I guess you never thought of that since you drive a 4x2.

Better tires for sure, and 2x6's with whatever grippy on them, air down...all that.

also, sometimes when you start to spin, let off and try to back up...especially
in this case looks like you could have used the hill to roll backwards and when
you get better traction get it going a little faster to increase your momentum...
often you can sorta plow over the previous area or avoid it...

    Carolina mud is brutal too...

and when did the OP say anything about $300?

Tire chains. I suppose shingled 2x6's couldn't hurt, especially with chains ;). You can even yank your bedmat out, that would work great with chains also ;).

So here is an update... After finally getting around to washing the truck I found out that the tow rope that I looped around the frame (right behind where the bumper connects) bent my bumper. (note: the picture on the first post is a failed attempt finally freed it by pulling from the back)

USAA is now trying to call it collision damage rather than "other than collision damage" wouldn't matter to me except it is a $200 copay vs a $50 copay.

    This keeps getting worse.

By the way the truck has less than 3k miles on it....

    1. How freakin' far from the house is your pool?
    2. You live in NC and it's your own freakin' yard. You didn't know that shizz is slippery?
    3. Get some better tires and learn how to drive with what you've got.

    Dern Yutes!
