I gotta say... they might total it. That's a new lower. CV. Who knows what kind of internal damage it did.

Id honestly be hoping for a total loss if I were you. It will just never be the same. Im glad mine was totaled. Got me into my truck I have now.

I'm really hoping they total it. I've already got my eyes on a 2011 off road at the same dealership.

The insurance adjuster is going back to the dealership today for a sencond repair estimate. If the mounting tabs for the control arm is bent, wouldn't that be considered frame damage?

Complete car manufacturing (I couldn't tell you what makes up a car mechanically) noob here and i wont pretend I know what I am talking about.. but is it a possibility for them to just replace the axle? based upon the second picture http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/at...my-truck-depreciate-ths-accident-imag0828.jpg

I am just wondering by the way. Educate me. :)

I just got off the phone with the guy at the dealer. He said they'll most likely total the truck since there's frame damage. I really hope they do. The guy from Progressive is coming in today or tomorrow to make the final call. Wish me luck!

Yeah, is be stoked to get a new one. The one I'm looking at is a 2011 Off Road magnetic gray with 51k miles. My truck is worth a little less than what they're asking but the sales guy I talked to said they might be able to hook it up. If I get some decent tires and do the anytime diff lock mod it should be a beast in the snow back home.

4x4 or no? And I wouldn't recommend a locker in snow/ice. Less stable. The locker anytime mod is fun tho and one of my favorites. ;)

4x4. I'm moving back to Wisconsin in November and I'd rather have 4x4 than just a locking diff.

I think I'd only use 4x4 and locked diff if the snow was over 18". Idk, this is my first 4wd vehicle so I'm sure it should be a breeze in the snow for me. My first to vehicles were 2wd, open diff, and no traction control. My first Taco didn't have abs either and my 2nd var only had abs in the front. I can't wait to get on on the snow with my truck.

4hi with all traction control on seemed to be the best for me in the snow. Kept me the straight and gave me the most traction. I only use the locker in slow crawls or the lose dirt. I dont think I've even used A trac yet... nor felt the need it for it. These trucks are pretty damn capable right out of the box.. even in just plain. Ol' 4wd. :)

Here's to hoping they'll call it totalled, because it'll never be quite the same.
