I'm closing in on 60 k miles and thinking it would be a good idea
to clean the fuel injectors. I could have it done at the dealership
but was wondering if buying a bottle or two of techron or some other
type of additive would work just as well.
    What do you think?

Techron is used religiously by corvette owners to remove sulphur deposits left on fuel gauge sending units in the gas tanks. It does work at that so I imagine it does offer some cleaning benefit.

I think that Chevron is the only one that has Techron.

Techron is the only fuel additive that I would ever dream of using in my fuel. It truly does what it claims. I have always been skeptical of "Snake Oil" additives, but Techron has been tested by many groups, and no one has ever been able to show negative results. A bottle every five thousand miles or so can't hurt.

Techron is the best. Look up the research.

I've never cleaned my fuel injectors. I use Shell 93 octane, in other words, good gas. If you do that, you shouldn't have issues.

I mostly use "cheap" grocery store Safeway gas and after 66K there is no evidence that I need injector cleaner.

I use Seafoam; never tried techron, gonna have to look into that - Was actually just thinking about switching to a Chevron station to fill up; anyone use them, or have a comment about them?

I did some research and that's why I mentioned techron.
Texaco also uses it as their detergent additive.
I have used Hess gas for the entire life of my truck. I don't have "issues"
per se, but the "top tier" gas thread got me thinking.
Toyota wouldn't recommend it without reason right?
Anyway, Auto zone has a bogo sale, so I'm going to pick up two bottles today.
With all the good things I have heard about it, I figure if I carefully follow the directions it can't hurt, and just maybe do some good. I will be keeping my taco
    for a long time yet.

Redline SI-1, Gumout with Regane(I like High Mileage) and Chevron with Techron all contain PEA. PEA is what cleans your injectors and its all you really want to use as it is most effective. It has a fish type odor to it.

The Gumout with Regane is only $5 at Wal Mart

I had a CEL in my 07 VW due to misfires caused by a partially clogged injector. Ran a tank of 93 octane with a bottle of Techron and the CEL went away and never came back. Its very effective, just make sure to change your oil as soon as possible afterwards.

You could ask that same question on any number of threads on the first page of this forum.

Every forum has "that guy" doesn't it? Gotta love forum police. Are you the guy that says "why dont you use the search function" all the time?

I'd quote some of your stuff but since you only have 6 posts as of this thread, can't do much there. Thanks for coming into our forum and utilizing it correctly though. Nothing makes finding the information you need in the correct section easier than people like you.

    Thank you officer :D

I would also like to report a thread about top tier gasoline that may not be in the right forum. I'd like to request an officer to that thread to see if we can get it moved.

There is also a tire thread and a thread about "hydro graphics" that might be out of place.

I bought two 20 oz. bottles of the Chevron Techron at Auto zone for $13 bucks and change....that's a little over 6.50 a bottle. Pretty good price for a product that
is recommended by virtually everyone. The instructions say to 'add to a nearly empty gas tank then add up to 20 gals of fuel"...I had just topped off my tank so it will be a couple of weeks before I can do this. Like I said before, I don't have any issues, no pinging, sluggish acceleration, rough idle etc. but I'm curious to see if I notice any changes at all.
